This guide will show you how to unlock all the hypothetical routes for each faction in the game. Hypothetical routes offer alternate story paths, and while many are straightforward, a few can be tricky. Liu Bei’s Forces (Shu)

To unlock Shu’s hypothetical route, go to Chapter 5 at the Battle of Changban. Instead of leaving with Liu Bei, you must defeat Cao Cao. After crossing the bridge, your victory condition will change to either defeating Cao Cao or supporting Liu Bei. Clear enemies near the bridge, wait for Cao Cao to appear, and then defeat him. This will unlock the hypothetical route for Liu Bei’s forces.

Cao Cao’s Forces (Wei)

Battle of Wan Castle: Save Dian Wei by defeating all enemies in the castle. Chase and eliminate fleeing officers before returning to clear the area. Dian Wei’s survival triggers the hypothetical path.

Battle of Mount Bailang: Prevent Guo Jia’s death by ensuring Tian Yu reaches him quickly. Clear all enemies in Tian Yu’s path, including those attacking Cao Cao. After rescuing Guo Jia, complete the battle normally.

Battle of Chibi: Prevent the fire attack by intercepting Huang Gai. Be ready when the wind shifts, rush to Huang Gai, and defeat him quickly to stop the attack.

Sun Clan (Wu)

Battle of Xiangyang: Save Sun Jian by defeating the mirages before reaching him. Quickly eliminate enemies blocking your way.

Battle of Yiling: Prevent Sun Ce’s death by finding and defeating Yan Baihu’s mirage. Use the bird’s sacred eyes to locate a hidden cave, defeat Baihu, and complete the stage to unlock the route.
