It’s an exciting time for FromSoftware fans. With Armored Core VI and Elden Ring now behind us, the question on everyone’s mind is: what’s next? For the past few years, we’ve had leaks or hints about FromSoftware’s projects—Elden Ring and Sekiro were both revealed early, and Armored Core 6 was widely speculated before its announcement. But now, things are quiet, leaving fans eager for clues.
Kadokawa Report Insights
FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, recently released its latest financial report, providing some intriguing details about the studio’s future. The report highlights Kadokawa’s goal to “expand the game development pipeline,” aiming for a steady flow of new releases across its subsidiaries. Under their umbrella, there are 20 titles currently in development across four studios: FromSoftware, Spike Chunsoft, Gacha Gacha Games, and Acquire.
Given FromSoftware’s track record, it’s possible they’re working on up to five projects simultaneously. This estimate is based on their past ability to handle multiple games, such as Sekiro, Elden Ring, Armored Core, and Deracine. Since the success of Elden Ring, FromSoftware has significantly expanded its workforce and increased employee salaries, making such ambitious output feasible.
Codename Leak: “CL”
A new potential leak may give us our first hint about what FromSoftware is working on. According to a leaker known as Cassus, a project with the codename CL was in development before the release of Elden Ring’s DLC. It’s unclear what CL refers to, but it’s distinct from Elden Ring’s codename (Great Rune). While this information is speculative, it could be our first glimpse at a new FromSoftware game.
Given the recent accomplishments and additional assets gained by FromSoftware, we might be entering a phase where games are released more often. Regardless if it is a follow-up to the recently released Elden Ring, a comeback of an already-existing franchise, or even something new altogether, there is a lot in store for the fans.
