Nintendo will host Switch Direct before the Switch 2 Direct on April 2.

Everyone is probably counting down the days until next week's massive Switch 2 Direct on April 2, when we'll probably learn a ton of information about the system's release date, launch titles, pricing, accessories, and more. After that event, I think we will learn pretty much everything there is to know about Switch 2. Then, there will be a mad dash to release it, with third parties pitching in; it should be exciting.
It appears that Nintendo isn't completely disregarding the existing Switch, so maybe that's what we can expect this week as well. As far as anyone can tell, there has been a dearth of Nintendo news recently, and the company does not have any releases with a specific release date. This comes from Andy Robinson, who mostly tweets in a contemplative manner.
They have Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends ZA on the docket, but both games don't yet have release dates. Now that Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is out, they haven't scheduled anything specific, and April 2 will go down in history as the day they stopped shadow-dropping content. Assuming it's entirely Switch 2 content—which we expect it to be—the titles won't be available until the system launches. Therefore, we assume the release date will be sometime in June or late May. The anticipation for a generic Nintendo Direct has reached a certain level.
Also, on Tuesday, they could announce that Kirby: Planet Robobot will be released next month, or in June, or some such date. For a long time, rumors circulated about remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and 3. One is already available now, and the other is due out next month.
Since their attention is naturally beginning to turn to the Switch 2, they can simply set them up over the next few months and gradually remove them this week. Certain things that need to be kept in mind that Nintendo will have the Switch 2 front and center during launch, but they will essentially have two systems to support for at least another year or two. They won't hurt themselves by releasing content for the Switch now because it will still be compatible with the Switch 2, and sales will continue for the entire lifespan of that system.
