ARK: Survival Ascended Guide | How To Beat the Iceworm Queen

The Iceworm Queen is one of the most challenging bosses in Ragnarok Ascended, but defeating her offers valuable rewards, including high-tier loot and access to the Artifact of the Pack. You can easily take her down if you plan ahead and know how to get around in the cave.

This guide tells you everything you need to know to make it through the Ice Cave, beat the Iceworm Queen, and get your stuff.

Recommended Gear and Supplies

To prepare for the fight, equip yourself with strong Fur Armor to survive the cold environment. It's helpful to bring a backup set of Flak Armor in case of emergency. Use a Shotgun with plenty of Shotgun Shells, and bring Med Brews, Food, Water, and Parachutes.

While Grapples and a Crossbow may seem useful, grapples are not usable inside the cave, so focus on essentials that support survival and stamina.

Finding the Ice Cave Entrance

The entrance to the Ice Cave is located at coordinates 30.1 and 32.7, behind a waterfall near a large lake. If entering by air, another access point is at 30.938, suitable for Flyers like an Argentavis or a Wyvern.

After landing safely, beware of Polar Bears nearby. Some decent Loot Drops can be found at the entrance, which are worth grabbing before proceeding deeper into the cave.

Navigating the Ice Cave

Start the journey by going into the cave on the left, passing through a small crouch area. It's easy to follow because the tube is mostly straight.  Along the way, you'll come across several Ice Worms, which can do a lot of damage. Get rid of them quickly and drink Med Brews to heal after being hit. A lot of Ice Worms will try to attack you before you get to the main boss room.

Red Loot Drops can also be found during your descent, offering high-level gear such as Ascendant Wooden Club. Use Parachutes to descend more quickly in open vertical sections. Continue heading downward, staying alert for more Ice Worms, and be sure to eat periodically to maintain health regeneration.

Eventually, you'll reach the arena entrance, where a waterfall leads to the final area.

Fighting the Iceworm Queen

The Iceworm Queen awakens once you approach her chamber. Keep your distance initially and use the Shotgun to deal damage while she tunnels. Once she surfaces and approaches, move in close. Surprisingly, hugging her body at close range prevents her from hitting you effectively. This tactic allows consistent point-blank damage with minimal risk.

When she burrows or retreats, she returns to ranged attacks. Repeat this cycle of close-quarters hugging and ranged bursts until she is defeated. Compared to other bosses, the Iceworm Queen is more manageable once her pattern is understood.

Loot and Artifact Collection

After defeating the Iceworm Queen, several high-value Loot Drops will appear. These may contain gear such as Ascendant Hide Pants, Ascendant Chitin Gauntlets, Sword Blueprints, Ascendant Longneck Rifles, Ascendant Fur Boots, Shotgun Blueprints, and saddles for Megalosaurus.

Proceed forward to discover a chamber featuring a Sleeping Giga and several Iceworm Eggs, which provide a thematic and rewarding visual. At the end of this room lies the Artifact of the Pack, your final reward.

To exit the cave, follow the passage to the left of the artifact room. Swim through the water until you emerge in a canyon area. This marks the end of the run and a successful Iceworm Queen encounter.
