It is tricky to trap a Griffin successfully in ARK Survival Ascended, and sometimes, it can be frustrating to get hit by it while trapping it. But if you use the right tool and approach, catching the Griffin should be easy.

Required Materials

For this trap to work, you'll need nine Metal Pillars, but Stone Pillars are a last resort if you can't find the Metal ones.

Thin Metal Pillars give the best result for this trap. One Stone Gateway is also required to finish building the trap.

Setting Up the Trap

Stand at your preferred trapping position and set your Stone Gateway on the ground. Once you have placed the gateway, use the Metal Pillars to create a Cage in ARK Survival Ascended.

Start by standing a bit away from the gateway, but not so close as to leave enough spacing.

From there, place three Metal Pillars vertically to form your first column. Proceed to create the second column by doing the same thing - place another three Metal Pillars in vertical alignment.

Finish the trap by leaving space between your three columns of three Metal Pillars.

Stand inside the trapping structure and open the Stone Gateway inwards.

An inward opening will be necessary to ensure the proper functioning of the trapping mechanism so that the Griffin cannot escape once it is trapped in ARK Survival Ascended.

Executing the Trap

Now that your trap is ready, you can lure a Griffin. Head towards the Griffin and have it pursue you to the trap.

Dash straight to the open gateway, leading the Griffin to seek you in the gateway.

Once the creature has entered the trap area, get out through the pillars and close the gate.

Due to the Griffin's movement and AI action, it will be imprisoned inside the pillar structure. The Griffin may try to break free, but the construction guarantees that any escape attempt will fail, imprisoning your target securely in ARK Survival Ascended.

While trapping the Griffin, remember that it can still hit you while trapped, so keep a safe distance.
