Taming a Mosasaurus is a significant achievement for any survivor seeking to dominate the ocean depths. This guide will walk you through the steps needed to successfully tame this powerful sea creature.

Preparation Process
Start by getting everything you'll need. It is best to have around 500 Narcotics, especially if you are going after a high-level Mosasaurus. Fewer may be enough for lower levels, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Stock up on Tranq Arrows; more are required for higher-level targets, while a lower-level Mosasaurus will need fewer. Prepare extra Crossbows—three should be sufficient for any level, ensuring you are not left defenseless if one breaks.
A full Scuba Set is essential. While the Flippers may not be strictly necessary if you remain on your mount, it is wise to bring them for emergencies. Carry extra Scuba Tanks as they can break during extended underwater excursions.
It is very important to choose the right base. It's best to use an Ichthyosaurus because it's easy to get to and fast, and most importantly, you can shoot from its back.
Alternatives such as a Baryonyx or a Sarco are also viable, offering more power but less agility and ease of acquisition. The Ichthyosaurus stands out for its smaller size and quickness.

Locating the Mosasaurus
Mosasaurus spawns in the deepest parts of the ocean. There is no need to focus on a specific map location; simply head to the ocean floor. Eventually, a Mosasaurus will appear. The taming process remains consistent regardless of the creature's level, though higher levels will require more Tranq Arrows and time.
It is important to note that the Mosasaurus cannot ascend beyond a certain depth. If you find yourself in danger, swim upwards; the Mosasaurus will de-agro and cease pursuit once it reaches its maximum depth limit.

The Taming Process
The Mosasaurus is a knockout tame. Equip your Tranq Arrows and aim for the main body, avoiding risky shots. The creature is fast, so accuracy is vital. With sufficient preparation and an Apprentice Crossbow or better, knocking out a lower-level Mosasaurus is manageable, while higher levels will put up more resistance.
Once the Mosasaurus is unconscious, gather its preferred taming food. Raw Mutton is the best option, followed by Raw Prime Meat and Raw Meat.
If Raw Prime Fish Meat is all that is available, it can be used, though the taming process will be slower. Having plenty of Narcotics on hand is essential to keep the Mosasaurus sedated during this time.
Place the chosen meat into the Mosasaurus's inventory and wait for the taming bar to fill. If possible, switch to Raw Prime Meat for a faster tame. Patience is necessary, especially when using less optimal food sources.
The Mosasaurus will be tamed and ready to use once the process is over. It is well worth the work to tame this strong sea creature because it is great for exploring and fighting underwater.
