You're about to tackle the Dartboard Puzzle in Blue Prince, one of the trickiest yet most rewarding challenges you'll encounter. You'll find a dart board hiding a randomized mathematical sequence in the billiard room.
You won't need standard dart rules—instead, you'll decode the board's colored segments and apply simple operations from the center outward. Follow this guide to solve each puzzle quickly and consistently.
Understanding Color Codes
You'll discover a legend beside the board that tells you how each color corresponds to a mathematical operation. A blue number signals addition, while a yellow number means subtraction. Pink indicates multiplication, and purple denotes division.
Whenever you see one of these colors, perform the associated operation as you move from the bullseye toward the outer rings.
For example, if you see 13 in blue followed by 12 in yellow, you calculate 13 minus 12 to get 1. Remember, you always work from the center outward, ignoring conventional operator precedence.
Simple Operations
You'll follow straightforward arithmetic steps when only one or two colors appear on the board. If the legend shows pink followed by another pink, you multiply each in turn—so when you see 1 in pink and then another 1 in pink, you multiply 1 by 1 to get 1.
If you see purple after pink, you first multiply and divide; for instance, encountering 8 in pink and 4 in purple leads you to calculate 8 times 4 to get 32, then 32 divided by 16 to arrive at 2. By carrying each result forward, you'll easily navigate these simpler puzzles.
Compound Operations
As puzzles grow more complex, you'll combine multiple operations in a single sequence. Suppose you encounter 18 in yellow, 8 in yellow, 4 in pink, and 20 in purple. You start by subtracting eight from 18 to get 10, multiply that result by 4 to reach 40, and divide 40 by 20 to arrive at 2.
Even when you mix colors, the same center-to-rim flow applies, and you carry each intermediate result into the next operation.
Special Symbols
Beyond colors, special shapes in the bullseye alter the rules. A square symbol means you square the current result at that step; for example, after subtraction and multiplication yield 6, you calculate six squared to get 36 before proceeding.
A diamond symbol instructs you to flip the digits of your result during that operation—if you subtract nine from 100 to get 91, flipping yields 19. Squiggly lines require you to round your result at that stage to the nearest 10 or 100, depending on the number of squiggles shown.
Advanced Rim Modifiers
Once you've mastered the center, the outer rim can add extra complexity. Red dots beside a segment tell you to repeat that operation as often as there are dots.
If you see a red X, you can skip that part, and if you see a red cut, you need to divide the current result in half for that step. You'll be able to keep your process running smoothly if you know about these rim tweaks.
Tips and Rewards
When you solve the sequence, you'll open the dartboard to claim your rewards. Keep an eye out for upgrade discs scattered on the map—they can simplify future puzzles when the color-and-shape combinations become incredibly intricate. With practice and this guide, you'll breeze through every Dartboard Puzzle.
