Unlocking the West Gate in Blue Prince gives a permanent upgrade that lets you build outdoor rooms at the start of every run. Follow these steps carefully to ensure you can access this feature quickly and easily.
Gather and Activate the Utility Box
First, grab a utility box and place it in any room you build. Once you’ve created that room, interact with the utility box and turn the garage power on. While you don’t have to do this as your first action, it’s essential before you can open the West Gate.
Locate and Construct the Garage
Next, head to the western edge of the blueprint grid—garages only spawn in column one. Make your way along the west side of the map, then begin constructing a garage. Keep in mind that each garage you build costs one gem.
Powering the Garage
After building the garage, enter it and locate the wall-mounted pad. Interact with this pad to open the garage door. This function works only if you’ve already powered the garage via the utility box in your earlier step.
Although more complex methods exist to supply power, using the utility room is the most straightforward approach.
Opening the West Gate
As you exit the garage, turn left and follow the path to its end. There, you’ll find the West Gate. Interact with the gate to open it, which creates a permanent link back to the entrance hall of every future run.
Accessing Outdoor Rooms
With the West Gate open, start your next run by entering through it in reverse. At the end of the walk on the other side, there is a building where you can make outdoor rooms that are only available here. Each time you play through these rooms, they make things easier by giving you passive buffs.
