Upgrades in Breathedge 2 let you improve your Spacesuit, tools, water processing, and food processing by attaching useful parts found while exploring. The system can initially be confusing because the same scavenged component may work with different equipment, while each upgrade slot accepts a specific type of part.

Breathedge 2 Upgrades: Stations and Categories

There are four main places where upgrades are used: the Wardrobe for your Spacesuit, the Workbench for tools, Kettle Bobby for water processing, and the Nutri-Pack-O-Mat for food processing.

Upgrades are divided into categories such as Heft, Sharp, Handle, Protection, and Container. The correct component must be installed in a compatible slot before its effect applies.

Upgrade Your Spacesuit at the Wardrobe

The Wardrobe uses Protection components. Foam can be collected from yellow mats, Cardboard comes from stacks of Cardboard, and the Knitted Teddy Bear can be found in hidden chests.

Each material provides different protection statistics, so keeping several types gives you more options when preparing for different environmental hazards.

Upgrade Kettle Bobby and the Nutri-Pack-O-Mat

The Nutri-Pack-O-Mat has upgrades for its processing component and container. Installing a Gear increases processing from 0.2 to 0.5. A Rusty Bucket adds 10 capacity and removes the leak, while a Plastic Barrel provides a much larger capacity increase.

Kettle Bobby also supports container and filter upgrades. A Rusty Bucket adds 20 capacity, while the Plastic Barrel offers more storage. For the filter, Cardboard gives +0.3 Processing, Foam gives +0.5, and the Knitted Teddy Bear gives +0.6.

This makes the Knitted Teddy Bear the strongest of these three Kettle Bobby filter options for processing.

Upgrade Tools at the Workbench

Among the early tools, Scrap, Thumper, and Cutter can receive upgrades.

Scrap accepts a Bone Handle found around the Gym. For damage, a Gear adds 10 damage, while the rarer Barbell Plate adds 20.

The Thumper can use Scissors for +12 damage or Jaws for +15 damage. The Cutter uses the same types of sharp components, with Scissors adding 5 damage and Jaws adding 10. Because several of these components are uncommon, consider where a part provides the most useful improvement before installing it.

Using the correct Protection, Container, Heft, Handle, or Sharp component lets you improve your Spacesuit, tools, Kettle Bobby, and Nutri-Pack-O-Mat throughout Breathedge 2.
