Black Iron Ingot is a critical upgrade material in Dave the Diver: In the Jungle. You need it for stronger tools, including Black Iron upgrades for the Tin Pickaxe and Tin Axe. Getting the ingot is simple once the Blacksmith is available, but you must collect the right ore first.

Unlock the Blacksmith

The Blacksmith becomes available in Chapter 2 of the Jungle DLC. Once Perak’s Blacksmith services are open, you can turn mined ore into ingots and use those ingots for tool enhancement. Check the upgrade menu first so you know how many Black Iron Ingots your Tin Pickaxe or Tin Axe upgrade requires.

Find Black Iron Ore

Black Iron Ore can be gathered in Utara Village and Utara Lake. Find ore nodes with dark or black markings on them and mine them with your Pickaxe. If you are short on ore, search both the village area and the early lake routes before returning to the Blacksmith.

Ore and other gathering points refresh over time, so it is worth checking them during regular village errands. Building a small stockpile early saves you from pausing progress when a new tool or crafting recipe asks for more ingots.

Smelt Black Iron Ingot

After collecting Black Iron Ore, go back to Perak at the Blacksmith and choose the smelting option. Select Black Iron Ingot and convert the ore into the finished material. The ingot can then be used for Tool Enhancement, Jungle Gun Modification, and Furniture Crafting.

Use It for Tool Upgrades

The best early use is upgrading your Tin Pickaxe and Tin Axe to Black Iron tier. A better Pickaxe allows you to mine better resources, and a better Axe allows you to cut tougher wood required for community requests and crafting. Upgrade both as soon as you obtain enough Black Iron Ingots and accompanying materials.
