Deltarune Chapter 5’s Red Mushroom and Squirrel puzzle is a short movement puzzle with positioning. It’s not about attacking the squirrel or rushing through the zone. You have to drive it just right so it reacts to your movements and heads towards the Red Mushroom instead of getting caught up at the edge of the path.

When you enter the puzzle screen, stop for a moment and look at the layout before interacting. The squirrel moves away from the direction you approach, so your own position matters more than speed. If you push from the wrong side, the squirrel can move into an awkward corner and force you to reset the room.

How to Move the Squirrel

Start by standing on the opposite side of where you want the squirrel to go. Approach it slowly and make it hop along the open route instead of into a wall. Keep your movement controlled, because one careless step can send it away from the mushroom and break the clean path.

The safest method is to guide the squirrel in stages. First, move it out of the starting corner. Then reposition Kris so the squirrel continues toward the center of the puzzle area. Once it is lined up with the Red Mushroom, approach from behind and push it into the final direction.

Solving the Red Mushroom Step

After the squirrel reaches the Red Mushroom side, do not overcorrect. Move only enough to trigger the final hop. The puzzle clears when the squirrel reaches the intended mushroom interaction spot, opening the way forward or completing the room’s requirement.

If the squirrel ends up blocked, leave the screen and return to reset its position. This is faster than trying to force the puzzle from a bad angle. Once the squirrel is back at the starting point, repeat the same approach and keep it centered until the final push.
