Dragon Age: The Veilguard Guide | Sea of Blood Quest

In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, an open area in the Sea of Blood is filled with red crystal barriers, each with its challenges and rewards hidden within. This guide will walk you through how to dispel each barrier, rescue a new companion, and find all the hidden loot on your journey.

Break the First Red Barrier

The first red barrier you encounter is pretty straightforward. It shows what to do in the quest marker: target the red flying crystal shields around the main crystal near the door. Destroying those will cause the barrier to dissipate, allowing the large crystal itself to be destroyed with a magic attack. Clearing this barrier opens the way forward and leads to a small hidden treasure nearby; do not miss it!

How to Find Extra Loot

Once you clear the first barrier, head forward to save an assassin who has been possessed by a demon. He will join your party after you free him. Defeat the nearby mages; one of them drops a key.

Go back a bit, and use the key on the next door. Near a structure of ice, one will find a hidden chest with some minor loot. A bit measly, perhaps, but a treasure's a treasure, yeah?

How To Solve the Hardest Red Barrier Puzzle

Next, you will come across another similar puzzle of red crystals in barrier time; the main crystal is shielded, and the way to destroy it isn't as forthcoming. Approach the ladder in the room and look up to see a crystal; this one isn't shielded in the ceiling.

If you destroy it, the shield on the central crystal disappears, allowing you to destroy that crystal and unlock various doors containing small treasures. Once inside, collect your treasure backstage - including one larger treasure behind the main door.

Find The Final Barrier and Contraption

Continuing onward, you come to a final red crystal barrier combined with another contraption puzzle. You have to make a bridge across a chasm. Yes, there is a power crystal, but don't get too excited; if you take it too soon, the bridge collapses, and you cannot continue.

Instead, head through into a room next door that contains a small creature. For the time being, ignore the creature and pick up the power crystal in that room. Then, head back and put the crystal in the location where it completes the bridge.

 

You will be rewarded with another treasure chest when you cross the bridge, and after defeating any remaining monsters, you will have completed the red crystal puzzle challenge and collected all the treasures.
