You will need Mythal’s Essence in order to get the true, or best, ending of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Mythal is one of the ancient elven gods, otherwise known as the Evanuris, and plays a heavy role within Dragon Age: Veilguard. Given her direct relation to Solas, she holds a heavy place in the lore of the game.

If you follow the correct side quests, you will find the truth behind her history with Solas and discover that a fraction of her essence still resides in the Crossroads.

You can win her favor by meeting her and answering her questions correctly, which unlocks extra dialogue and gameplay advantages later on in the story. This guide will walk you through everything you need to do to secure Mythal's aid.

How to Find Mythal

First, you need to complete the side quest "Regrets of the Dread Wolf." This involves tracking down five Wolf Statuettes hidden across the Crossroads and reliving Solas's memories tied to them.

You’ll also need a sixth Wolf Statuette, which you can only get by meeting Morrigan and The Inquisitor during the "Shades of the Blight" quest. Once you have this statuette, you can use it at the Lighthouse to access new scenes and lore-rich memories.

After viewing all the memories, Morrigan will meet you at the Crossroads and reveal that a piece of Mythal’s essence is still alive but trapped. A new path will then open on Beacon Island, leading to the Ancients' Nest. Head down this path and speak to the Caretaker, who will ferry you to the Nest. From there, proceed forward until you find Mythal's shade waiting to meet you.

Mythal's Questions and the Correct Answers

When you finally encounter Mythal, she’ll test you with a series of questions to determine your worth. Answering these correctly is crucial, as failing will leave you with the option to fight her instead. This is not recommended unless you’re prepared to face a high-level dragon with devastating attacks.

For those determined to avoid a battle, here are the responses that will win her favor:

When Mythal asks about stopping the gods, respond with:

"They wronged you."

If the conversation turns to fighting the Blight, choose:

"You stood against it."

When asked to prove your group’s worth, say:

"Building a safe place."

If Solas comes up, show your respect by stating:

"Respecting him."

If you’ve completed Bellara's companion quests, you’ll get an additional option:

"We stopped Anaris."

Selecting this will immediately earn Mythal's aid without needing to answer any other questions.

What You Gain From Mythal’s Favor

Answer at least three of Mythal’s questions correctly, and she’ll reward you with Mythal’s Essence. This grants new dialogue options when confronting Solas in the endgame, making him more likely to listen to you. Additionally, during the "Heart of Corruption" side quest, Mythal will assist you in her dragon form when you face the Revenant Dragon, one of the toughest bosses in the game.
