High On Life Guide | How to Get All Missable Achievements

This guide lists every missable achievement and describes exactly when and how to obtain them. NOTE: Throughout this guide, each section displays a Part marker (for example, Part a, Part b). In sections where the achievement can be received, the guide specifies that information.

Fallout Doesn't Let You Do This (Before 9-Torg) — Part a

After completing the prologue and heading down the tunnel to the slums, interact with Slumsley toward the bottom.

When dialogue finishes, make sure to kill Slumsley to receive this missable achievement. Continue onward to obtain Knifey and then kill 9-Torg, which will trigger the next related Gatlian event.

Don't Knife The Hand That Feeds (Before Douglas) — Part b

Following the gifting of the Drum to Globo, enter the house and listen to Gene.

When the option to press the attack button to stab with Knifey appears, select it to earn this missable achievement. 

After handing in the DNA of 9-Torg, select the DOUGLAS bounty (not Krubis) to receive the Gatlian that Douglas fights you with — this Gatlian is required before defeating Krubis to obtain the next missable achievement.

There are no missable achievements during the Douglas bounty, so progress at any pace.

A Starfish Is Born (Throughout Campaign) — Parts a–f

Part a: Upon killing 9-Torg, return up the tunnel to Blim City and go back to Keeps Pawn Shop, where the Bounty Suit was obtained. Enter and go to the right to purchase the Drum from the counter. 

Exit Keeps and head back toward the house, keeping an eye out for Globo, a young alien sitting on the ground to the left of the house.

Interact with Globo and give the Drum to receive the first portion of this multi-part achievement.

Part b: After gifting the Drum, follow the steps in "Don't Knife The Hand That Feeds" to stab with Knifey and continue the sequence toward the Douglas bounty.

Part c: Once Krubis is defeated and you return, visit Globo's friend. He will mention that Globo has made it on TV and is performing live in front of a large audience — this advances the Starfish sequence.

Part d: After sleeping and progressing to obtain the jetpack, posters of Globo may appear around Blim City.

Make sure to talk to Globo's friend between each bounty from this point onward to continue the sequence.

Part e: Following Dr. Giblets and the latter bounty progress, return to the house and watch the TV under the Gene Zaroothian Bounty Hunter billboard for a brief Globo appearance.

If Globo is not on screen at that time, continue the story: there will be another opportunity to see the performance later.

Part f: After handing in Nipulon's DNA, receive Lezduit and choose the dialogue option "Give me a little more time" rather than "I'm ready to fight Garmantuous."

Travel to Nova Sanctus Blim City and move past Blorto's food stand to the bank of TVs; Globo should appear on-screen, contributing to the Starfish achievement progression.

Gunning For Your Job (Before Krubis) — Part c

After completing the Douglas bounty, start the Krubis bounty and proceed until reaching the Administration Office. Pull out Sweezy and talk to Helen (the pink Moplet at the desk). Select the dialogue option "I'm the new boss". 

After selecting that option, enter the next room with working moplets and issue orders to them as desired.

No dialogue choices in that scene will block the achievement as long as the "I'm the new boss" option was chosen while speaking with Helen. Afterward, continue and kill Krubis.

Carried Stan's Load To Completion (Before Dr. Giblets) — Part d

After hearing the news from Globo's friend, travel the looping path back toward Mr. Keeps' Shop and find Stan, a short vendor. Talk to Stan and agree to purchase his alien fluid (the goop). 

If this item is in the inventory when the game is completed, the achievement will unlock. Once the purchase is made, progress and sleep to advance the story, and then obtain the jetpack as needed.

R.I.P. Davey Glutes (Before Dr. Giblets) — Part e

During Dr. Giblets' bounty, progress until reaching the store area. After exiting the High on Life store, pick up the Mag-Boots from the crushed body of Davey Glutes.

Upon picking up the Mag-Boots, the achievement will unlock. 

Continue with the Dr. Giblets quest, interacting with the two hints about Dr. Gurgula near the second place trophies.

While all forums are completable post-endgame, traversing back and forth can be cumbersome, so collect the hints during the main playthrough.

After killing Dr. Giblets, return home and start the Skrendel Bros bounty.

Eatin' Good in the Neighbourhood (Before Nipulon) — Part e

During the Blim City Invasion questline, progress with Kenny to the Slums Applebees. Listen to Kenny during the scene. Any order is acceptable for the interaction.

At the end of the Applebee's scene, when leaving and chasing Lizzie and Tweeg, make sure to interact with the bill prompt and pay the bill to receive the achievement. 

After this, escape the G3, rest, and start the Nipulon bounty. There are no missables during Nipulon's bounty until after defeating him.

Playing Favorites (During Garmantuous) — Part f

After returning from Blim City and starting the Garmantuous boss fight, travel to face Garmantuous. Upon defeating Garmantuous, when prompted to insert Kenny to finish the battle, choose a different Gatlian other than Kenny. 

Selecting another Gatlian will unlock this final missable achievement as well as complete the conditions for "Carried Stan's Load To Completion" if it was fulfilled earlier.

DLC: High On Knife — Missable Achievements

The High on Knife DLC contains two additional missable achievements. Both must be completed before their respective story milestones.

Bathe With A Giant Nude Alien (Before reaching The Ranch)

When moving on from Salt Lick City toward Muxxalon, a giant yellow/green nude alien named Toxxo will appear along the path.

During the conversation, Toxxo requests that you enter the purple salt lake. NOTE: The salt lake is toxic.

Once in the lake, follow Suit-O's advice and shoot the parasites attached to Toxxo. The parasites drop health pickups that allow you to remain in the bath long enough to fill the progress bar at the top of the screen. Fill the bar, exit the lake, and the achievement will unlock.

Fall In Love With A Parasite (Before reaching Muxxalon)

After reaching the leader of the poachers and discussing travel across the salt lake via a Duffalo, return to the ranch and ride the Duffalo across. During the journey, interact with a parasite passenger. Use Creature dialogue to pursue the romantic interaction. The following response sequence (using the Creature option) will progress the encounter without terminating it prematurely:

"Sorry, I'm distracted by how hot you are."

"When's the last time you went on a date?"

"What if we turned this into a date?"

"Let's play Truth or Dare"

Choose "Dare"

"Lean in for a kiss."

"Would you like to go further?"

After selecting the seventh option and completing the interaction, the achievement will unlock.
