In Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Iron Man is one of the more advanced solo characters when you factor in his ranged abilities and his special attacks. These perks outweigh a lot of the weaknesses that a lot of other short-ranged combat characters have.

To wield Iron Man to the fullest, you’ll want to use smart positioning as well as utilize your abilities appropriately. This guide will explain a few tips and tricks that can help.

Attacks & Combos

Iron Man possesses a standard attack that does four hits. The four hits then follow up with a blast that deals shock damage.

This final hit is great, and it often breaks enemy shields and keeps enemies away to a certain distance, particularly useful when you are dealing with multiple enemies.

Iron Man’s secondary strike is his knee strike. It can be pretty hard to connect with it at times because of its range; it lifts enemies up momentarily.

To dish out damage on the ground at a consistent rate, it’s best that you stop attacking after the second hit and restart the entire combo. This doesn’t necessarily put you at a handicap, especially if you utilize your Charge attack after.

Repeating this attack loop can also lift enemies up in the air, allowing you to do aerial follow-ups; however, do keep in mind that smaller enemies tend to fall faster. This makes it harder to connect on the follow-ups.

Charge Attacks & Energy Orbs

Iron Man’s Charge attack is one of the strongest attacks in his arsenal. It creates a static energy orb that basically stuns enemies whenever in contact, dealing shock damage in the process. The time used to “Charge it” will be the variable in how far it goes, after which it remains static.

These orbs occupy a large portion of the battlefield if spread out, and they are capable of breaking shields, allowing you to set up long combos.

Utilizing the orbs can be particularly useful when you use them in areas with a lot of flying enemies, like Asgard. Robotic enemies also tend to take almost twice the shock damage. You’ll be allowed to dispense multiple orbs in a single combo, dishing out massive damage.

Meter Building

Marvel Cosmic Invasions sports the ability to build your meter even if you attack defeated enemies. Juggling fallen enemies can increase Focus as well as help you gain additional health. Utilising this mechanism is particularly useful in the Arcade mode. After ending fights, look to do extended combos, so that you are at a better advantage for your next encounter.

Laser, Shoulder Bash, and Screen Control

The laser attack is a reliable launcher that is a good way of extending your combo attacks. Repeating the dash laser chains is a great way of moving enemies from one side of the arena to the other. The shoulder is another attack that works well in that regard; it works particularly well near walls.

If you’ve stunned an enemy using the Charge Orb, the lasers may not launch; however, you’ll be able to utilize the shoulder bash to extend your combo. Using your parry versus projectiles will allow you to do a sneaky laser shot, making it useful in particular arenas where there are a lot of projectiles being thrown.

Aerial Combat

Flight makes it so that you’ll be able to do attacks and combos whilst you’re airborne, but this does come with a significant compromise in the enemies possessing anti-air attacks. Flight-canceling an aerial supersonic can bring them down, causing them to hit ground targets in the process.

Using the Ground Pound attack by jumping and attacking, deal AoE damage to the enemies nearby, but it can be risky if you don’t use it wisely; it's definitely worth using as a crowd control option. Flight cancelling into a ground pound can also be used as a method of evading enemies from behind, especially if you happen to be overwhelmed.

Assist and Swap

Iron Man’s assist and swap are extremely versatile if used with a character that specializes in melee. His laser helps stray launches into full-blown combos, and when you swap him during offense triggers a shoulder bash for easy combo follow-ups; This makes the combos swaps and potentially endless.

Having special awareness, utilizing your Charge Orbs and your aerial tools can make Ironman one of the more consistent and flexible characters in Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
