Phoenix is one of the more powerful superheroes in Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Phoenix’s toolkit is based on her speed and powerful offensive combos, making her an excellent pick for those who enjoy fast-paced combat.

Light Attack

Phoenix’s light attack is arguably her weakest attack, simply due to its lacklustre damage. She does a sweeping flame strike, which does have decent range, but it doesn’t cover off aerial targets well, and is vulnerable to being hit from behind.

Sprint Attack

The sprint attack is what makes or breaks Phoenix. In its regular form, the attack is average at best; however, once your focus is fully charged, the fire element is added, and when you pair that with the sprint attack, it becomes a force to be reckoned with.

She does small horizontal dashes across the screen, launching enemies in the air, and she can even take down aerial targets. This allows you to incorporate various combos and spam the sprint attack to take on the hardest of rounds.

Charge Attack

Phoenix’s charge attack released a pulsing burst of energy around her; this deals AOE damage, which hits both ground and aerial targets, and works wonderfully when used as a combo finisher.

You’ll also be able to interrupt incoming attacks using the charge attack, as well as make room whenever you are surrounded by enemies.

Range Attack

Her Range attack acts as a kind of “Grab” and pulls enemies from afar, making her one of the only flying superheroes with that ability. However, her grab isn’t unlimited like many superheroes; you’ll use a charge every time a grab is used, making it a somewhat finite resource.

Aerial Attack

For her aerial attack, Phoenix can use her sprint attack to close down enemies and use her grab as well as her charge attack. To defend herself, Phoenix is one of those characters who is better off blocking shots rather than dodging them.

These combinations of attack and defence make her one of the best characters at taking down aerial threats.

Special

Phoenix’s special unleashes the mythical bird that flies upwards, nearly covering the entire screen. It’s great at taking out large groups of enemies as well as bosses.

Passive

Her passive ability is great, considering how greatly it enhances a lot of her attacks with fire, significantly increasing her damage output as well as her effectiveness.

She also makes for a great assist character, helping most characters by sweeping across the screen, clearing out aerial targets.

Phoenix makes for a fun and great character overall; when you combine her fire damage and versatility, she has a really effective kit. Utilising her sprint attack with her passive can make her menacing and help Phoenix reach her full potential.
