Rocket Raccoon brings his own unique flair into combat with his gadgets in Marvel Cosmic Invasion. However, this does come at a compromise; when playing solo, many of his attacks may lock the necessary offensive capabilities to cope with the number of enemies, easily overwhelming him. This guide will go over his move set and toolkit.

Light Attack

For Rocket's light attack, he uses his gun, where the first shot stuns enemies. This attack sounds good on paper; however, Rocket can easily get outnumbered, and the following shots, which are required to deal damage to enemies, lose all impact, making it one of the worst light attacks in the game.

Sprint Attack

For his sprint attack, Rocket knocks down enemies by sliding and pouncing, after which he drops shock charge traps. The shock charges briefly stun enemies that walk into them; however, they might not be useful in a lot of situations, especially when you go in with aerial threats. The effect also wears off pretty quickly and can be hard to coordinate properly.

Charged Attack

Rocket's charged attack, Full Blast, has two stages; the first stage causes enemies to be knocked back and takes less time to charge up, the second stage version fires heavy shots, dealing more damage; however, it does take significantly longer to trigger.

The long animation trigger is a significant hindrance, making it extremely risky to use without cover. It’s best avoided during unpredictable fast encounters.

Ranged Attack

Rocket's ranged attack is his ability to throw grenades with random status effects. The problem with this attack is that some of the status effects can feel redundant, and you are only limited to 2 charges.

Aerial Attack

His aerial attack, Rocket Jump, gives him a boost up to then pounce down on aerial threats. It’s not the best of aerial attacks in the game since the Rocket Jump phase lacks any damage, making it hard to cope with multiple aerial threats.

Special

Rocket Raccoon's special, the Machine Gun Frenzy, equips him with heavy machinery and guns firing in every direction. It’s a move that targets most enemies around the arena and can be great with bosses; however, it still struggles against aerial threats.

Passive & Assist

His passive ability triggers grenade throws based on the amount of combos that you rack up, but it can be hard to utilise it to its fullest, and its effect can be negligible.

As an assist character, Rocket excels; he throws grenades with various status effects, which often come in handy.

Overall, in solo play, Rocket Raccoon does struggle, especially when it comes to his attack variety and crowd control, making him one of the weaker superheroes from the roster; but, he can excel in certain situations, like in co-op or as an assist character.
