The Rainbow Pass and the Aurora Ticket are two important things you need to meet Deoxys. You get the Aurora Ticket when you beat the Elite Four and join the Hall of Fame. It is added to your Bag automatically. It takes a little more work to get the Rainbow Pass. You need to give Celio the Ruby that you found on One Island. As soon as both things are ready, you can move on to the fight.

Before leaving, make sure you prepare well. Bring plenty of healing items and a good number of Ultra Balls. It also helps to have a Pokémon with False Swipe so Deoxys is not knocked out by mistake. A Pokémon that can cause Sleep or Paralysis is also useful. Deoxys is only level 30, so the fight is manageable, but it is still easy to ruin the catch if you are careless.

How to Reach Birth Island

Birth Island Puzzle Solution

To make Deoxys appear, you need to interact with the triangle in the correct order. The path is bottom, right, bottom, left, right, left, top, right, left, top, and bottom. If done correctly, the triangle will start glowing red. That is the sign that the puzzle is being solved properly.

When you reach the second-to-last step, save the game again before pressing the final button input. This is very important. Once the last step is taken, Deoxys appears right away, and the battle begins automatically, so there is no chance to save after that point.

How to Shiny Hunt Deoxys

If you want Shiny Deoxys, save at the final point before the encounter starts. Once Deoxys appears and the battle begins, check whether it is shiny. The shiny odds are 1 in 8,192, so this can take a long time. If it is not shiny, use the soft reset button combination X + Y + A + B and load the save again.

This method is slow because the encounter scene has to play every time, but it is the only way to shiny hunt Deoxys in these games. Each reset gives you a new Deoxys, so you can keep repeating the battle until the shiny appears.

Deoxys Forms in FireRed and LeafGreen

There is one important version difference to remember. In Pokémon FireRed, Deoxys appears in its Attack Forme. In Pokémon LeafGreen, it appears in its Defense Forme. The hunting method stays the same in both games.
