How to Unlock Deishu Takahashi

To unlock Deishu Takahashi as your ally, you must visit the Military Academy location in the Kanda sub-region within the main Edo region during Chapter 2. This recruitment method differs from most other allies who become available through mission completion or story progression.

You encounter Takahashi during the "A Show for the Shogun" ronin mission as the second opponent in the combat tournament, but his recruitment requires additional steps beyond the initial combat encounter during the story mission.

After progressing to Chapter 2, navigate to the Military Academy in Edo's Kanda sub-region. Inside the academy, locate Deishu Takahashi, who will have a white academy icon displayed above his head, indicating his availability for training interactions.

Speak with Takahashi and accept any one training fight from the available options. The specific training exercise does not matter, and your performance score during the training does not affect recruitment success. Simply completing any single training session with him will trigger his recruitment.

After finishing the training fight, Takahashi will automatically join your allies roster without requiring additional objectives or mission completion.

Combat Abilities and Equipment

As his main tool, Deishu Takahashi only uses a stick. He doesn't have any other weapons. His fighting style is based only on spear methods and the benefits that come with them, like being able to reach farther and hit with thrusts.

Because of how the stick is made, he can attack foes while staying a safe distance and controlling where he is on the ground during battle. Because he is an expert with this type of tool, he can fight a wide range of enemies.

The blessing ability he has increases the damage of press attacks, making this type of attack more useful in battle. Because press strikes are a type of combat move that depends on time and positioning, his blessing is useful for players who use this type of attack in their battle plans.

When you reach maximum bond level with Deishu Takahashi, he provides specialized training in spear combat techniques. He teaches you a Ryu combat style for spear weapons, which comes from the Te skill tree. This combat style offers attack patterns and techniques specifically designed for spear combat.

There are many attacking and defensive moves that can be done with a spear that make use of its long reach and good penetration. These methods make it possible to handle the enemy well and can be used for both one-on-one and group fighting.

At maximum bond level, Takahashi grants you two special skill points from the strength skill tree, which can be invested to unlock abilities that enhance physical combat capabilities, weapon damage output, and various strength-based gameplay mechanics.
