On January 19, 2026, a new BIOS update, version 314, was released for ROG Xbox Ally X. About a month ago, BIOS313 provided performance and system stability upgrades that were identical to this one. The new BIOS314 update doesn't make big changes to performance. Still, it continues to work to stabilize the system and make small improvements.
The official support page just had the BIOS upgrade as a new driver. BIOS314 showed up in the system update area with a release date of January 19, 2026. This BIOS update came through Windows Update rather than MyASUS or Armory Crate SE, unlike other upgrades.

How to Install the BIOS314 Update
The first step was to change the system to Windows desktop mode. We closed all open programs, even the Xbox app. Then, the update could be found in the Settings menu under Windows Update. The BIOS update appeared alongside other system upgrades.
We also looked for more updates on the Microsoft Store. There were several program updates, including a new version of Armory Crate SE.
This update differed from previous ones, which required manual installation via MyASUS. It happened automatically when Windows restarted. The device was plugged into a power source to make sure the installation went smoothly. The BIOS update completed quickly, and then the system restarted a few times before returning to the Xbox Full Screen Experience or the Windows desktop, depending on how the system was set up.
Checking the Version of the BIOS
The first time Armory Crate SE opened after the upgrade was after the system restarted. The software finished updating and then displayed the installed BIOS version.
The Update Center showed that BIOS314 was installed and would be released on January 19, 2026. No further firmware updates were listed.
We also looked for any other drivers that MyASUS might need. Inside was a card reader driver that you couldn't see in Windows Update or Armory Crate SE. The system was completely up to date on Windows, the Microsoft Store, MyASUS, and Armory Crate SE after installation.
There were no noticeable modifications to the BIOS settings or the Armory Crate SE interface. The upgrade was more about improving how things work inside than adding new features.
A Comparison of Cyberpunk 2077's Performance
We used 1080p Medium settings and FSR 3 Performance with 8GB of VRAM to test Cyberpunk 2077. For consistency, the identical setup was used in BIOS312 and BIOS313.
At 25W, the performance was almost identical to that with the previous BIOS version. Sometimes the GPU clock speed increased a little, but it didn't increase the FPS. The upgraded BIOS indicated 1fps or 2fps lower results in some runs; however, this was not a big deal.
At 17W, the performance was similarly quite close. There were some little differences, but no significant improvements or losses were noted. The system made a few tweaks to the balance, but the gameplay stayed the same.

Comparison of Doom Performance
The same benchmarking method was used to test Doom for consistency.
The performance results for BIOS313 and BIOS314 were almost identical at 25W. The upgraded BIOS sometimes showed a slight drop in FPS, but the difference wasn't significant. Frame timings looked cleaner, indicating that tiny changes were made to stability.
At 17W, the results were the same as in Cyberpunk 2077. There were no significant performance changes compared to the previous BIOS.
No new GPU drivers were installed during this update cycle, so the only performance changes were at the BIOS level.
Final Thoughts
The upgrade process was different from previous BIOS setups because Windows Update was used instead of MyASUS or Armory Crate SE. Everything went smoothly, though.
ROG Xbox Ally X gets regular upgrades, and more changes are on the way. These will include capabilities relating to upscale docking and system improvements.
