AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D vs 5700X3D and 7500F: Best Value CPU for Gaming
Performance analysis highlights real-time results across multiple settings to reveal overall stability, visual quality, and hardware efficiency at 4K resolution

A new comparison is here, more than a year after the last CPU benchmark sessions. It includes the Ryzen 5 7500X3D, a lower-frequency, lower-bin version of the 7600X3D. AMD gave us a sample of the Ryzen 5 7500X3D.
Because people often ask for it, the benchmark set also has 1440p data. At 1440 p.m., CPU benchmarks sometimes hit the GPU's limits, making the differences between processors less significant. However, the results are still given for reference.

A Look at Prices
Pricing is the first thing we do. In the US, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D costs about $300. Availability is low because production has stopped, driving up market prices. In the US, the 7500F costs about $145. Mind Factory has the new 7500X3D for €279 right now.
We were unable to find it in the US at major retailers like Newegg and MicroCenter. This suggests that it may only be available in some markets or on OEM systems. The main question is which CPU is faster: the older 5700X3D with eight cores and 16 threads or the newer Zen 4-based 7500X3D with six cores and 12 threads.
Benchmarks for productivity
Photoshop doesn't use the cache too often. Because they run at faster frequencies, CPUs that aren't X3D work better. The 7600X is 7% quicker than the 7600X3D, and the overclocked 7500F is 11% faster than the 7500X3D. The 5700X3D is the worst of them all.
Premiere shows a similar tendency. Non-X3D CPUs with higher frequencies still have an edge, though the margins are narrower.
Blender
A new Blender benchmark that uses the Monster Under the Bed test image indicates that 3D cache doesn't help. The 7600X is 1 minute and 14 seconds faster than the 7600X3D. The 5700X3D has more cores, which helps, but it is still behind newer 6-core machines.
Cinebench R24
Even though it has eight cores and 16 threads, the 5700X3D is slower than the 7600X and 7500F in multi-thread performance. It does 3% better than the 7500X3D.
AI Standards
In UL Procyon Computer Vision, the 5700X3D is the best because it has more cores. When you overclock the 7500F by yourself, it gets a lot better, even better than the 7600X.
7-Zip: The 5700X3D has a greater thread count, which makes it better for decompressing. It takes longer to compress because it uses DDR4. The 7600X3D exhibits strange behaviour when the RAM is changed, similar to what happened in earlier tests. The 7600X is in the lead overall, and the 7500F is in second place.
Benchmarks for Gaming
7500X3D and 7600X3D are far better than the other CPUs. The 7500F is the same as the 7600X and is behind the 5700X3D. The 7500X3D is 25% quicker than the 5700X3D and 36% faster than the 7500F at 1440p.
The Witcher 3 X3D CPUs are the best. The 7600X3D comes in first, the 7500X3D comes in second, and the 5700X3D comes in third. The 7600X may not be as fast as an overclocked 7500F. At 1440 p.m., the differences get smaller.
Counter-Strike 2
A title that is sensitive to bandwidth, latency, and frequency. The 5700X3D is slower because it uses DDR4 and runs at a lower frequency. At 1080p, the 7500X3D is 47% quicker, and at 1440p, it is 49% faster.
Hogwarts Legacy
When you change the RAM, non-X3D CPUs work almost as well as X3D ones. The 5700X3D is 11% slower than the 7500X3D. The 7500F can beat the 5700X3D when overclocked. GPU constraints make disparities less noticeable at 1440p.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
5700X3D is the slowest, and the only one that beats the base 7500F. The 7600X3D is the quickest, and the 7500X3D is a close second. At 1440 p.m., GPU constraints narrow the differences, though the 5700X3D is still near the bottom of the list.
Banisher's Ghosts of New Eden
5700X3D is better than the 7500F and 7600X, but not as good as either of the X3D Zen 4 versions. At 1440p, the two X3D CPUs are ahead, while the others are all close behind.
Hitman 3: Real-map testing reveals how sensitive RAM is. RAM tweaking helps X3D CPUs. The 7500X3D is 22% quicker than the 5700X3D and 33% faster than the 7500F at 1440p.
Homeworld 3
When overclocked, the 7500F and 7600X outperform the 5700X3D. At 1440 p.m., the GPU constraints keep performance close to 120 fps.
The Last of Us Part II
The game needs a lot of GPU power. All CPUs hit the GPU's limits, except for the 5700X3D, which still has the lowest figures at both resolutions.
Battlefield 6
All CPUs give similar results. The RAM-tuned 7600X can reach up to 10% faster speeds. The 7500X3D and 7600X3D are a little ahead.
Cyberpunk 2077
5700X3D and 7600X3D are equal in one gameplay test, but the results are different. The 7600X3D is the best at 1440p, and the 5700X3D has the same average fps as the 7500X3D but better 1% lows because it has more threads.
Spider-Man 2
The 5700X3D is the slowest of the three. At 1080p, other CPUs work just as well. Ray tracing gets a lot of help from DDR5. The X3D Zen 4 models and the 7500F are still leading at 1440p, while the 5700X3D is falling behind.
X3D models lead in A Plague Tale: Requiem. The 5700X3D works great, but the 7600X is better after the RAM is set up. Sometimes, the overclocked 7500F beats the 7600X. At 1440 p.m., GPU constraints cause the results to flatten.
Need for Speed Unbound
Frostbite likes a lot of cores. The 5700X3D is better than the 7500F, but it is still not as good as the X3D Zen 4 CPUs. The 7500X3D is 10% quicker than the 5700X3D and 13% faster than the 7500F at 1440p.
1080p Average Gaming Performance
The stock 7500F is slower than the 5700X3D with DDR4-3200 as a foundation; however, with DDR5 timing changes, it beats the 5700X3D with DDR4-3600. Results get even better when you overclock. The 7500X3D is at least 19% faster than the 5700X3D, and the 7600X3D is at least 23% faster.
1440p GPU limits make the disparities smaller, but the 7500X3D is still at least 16% quicker than the 5700X3D.
Power Use
All CPUs use very little power when idle. Under load, the 7600X uses the greatest power. In multi-threaded activities, the 5700X comes in second, yet it only uses 36W in single-core tests. The 7500X3D and 7600X3D don't use much power for how well they perform. The 7500F uses little electricity and works well after being tuned.

Final Thoughts
We looked at the productivity statistics, and for $140, the 7500F is a great deal with DDR5 tweaking and manual overclocking. X3D CPUs are good for gaming because they provide cache benefits for tasks that are performed repeatedly.
7500F is a great choice if you want the best performance for your money. The 7500X3D or 7600X3D is a good choice if you want a CPU that works well without any tinkering. A secondhand 5700X3D setup will still work for many games if you already have a DDR4 system. 7500F, 7500X3D, or 7600X3D is a good choice for a first build or an upgrade if you already have DDR5 RAM. They don't need any extra changes to work well.
We used benchmarks for both 1080p and 1440p. When testing CPUs, screen resolution usually doesn't affect CPU-bound frame rate. The memory bandwidth needs could alter. When ray tracing is on at 1440p, some engines need more bandwidth, even when the CPU is constrained.
For instance, a CPU that can do 100 fps at 1080p may only be able to do 90 fps at 1440p because of bandwidth limits, not because of its speed. Testing at 1440 p.m. doesn't provide much value for the CPU as a whole; however, we included the findings as you asked.
