City management in Total War: Three Kingdoms often demands immediate fixes—whether food is short, public order is slipping, or recruitment infrastructure is urgently needed.
The game lets you accelerate building, demolishing, or converting by paying extra. Mastering Instant Construction ensures that when a crisis hits, you can stabilize a commandery without waiting multiple turns.

Where To Find Instant Construction
When you choose to build, demolish, or convert a structure, new text appears on the building card showing the action and how many turns it will take. An X appears in the top right, and a small coin appears at the bottom of the picture.
Hovering over the coin shows how much money Instant Construction will cost, letting you decide on the spot whether finishing immediately is worth the investment.
How The Cost Is Calculated

The price depends on multiple factors, including base building cost, current level, and turns remaining. In practice, the charge averages roughly the cost of the building itself.
For example, instantly completing a structure that costs 1,100 will be about 1,100 extra, while a 2,600 building tends to cost around 2,600 more to finish instantly.
Because the premium scales up with bigger and higher-tier projects, Instant Construction is not always the most economical option and should be saved for moments when timing is critical.
Downgrading And Demolition Profit Trick

If you downgrade or demolish a building, you first receive a refund. Choosing to instantly finish either a downgrade or demolition costs half of the refunded amount.
This interaction means that after taking over a city, you can immediately pivot its infrastructure and still come out ahead, even if you instantly demolish unwanted chains to clear the way for preferred builds.
When Instant Construction Makes Sense

Instant Construction shines in urgent situations. If your people are starving, immediately finishing food buildings stabilizes growth and prevents deeper crises.
If public order is collapsing, completing the right temples or administrative structures can stop rebellion before it starts. When preparing to recruit, instantly finishing a crucial building like a Conscription Office eliminates dead turns and keeps momentum high, ensuring armies are ready on schedule.
Step-By-Step Usage
Open the settlement panel and choose the desired action on a building. Review the projected number of turns, then look for the coin icon at the bottom of the card. Hover to see the exact premium for Instant Construction.
Confirm the spend if the benefit—such as preventing a famine, shoring up public order, or unlocking recruitment—outweighs the cost.
Before using the refund to rebuild or downgrade useless buildings in captured cities, you might want to first destroy or downgrade them and then use the lower instant-finish price to quickly shift the economy toward your chosen strategy.
