Windrose Guide | How to Get Your First Ship

In Windrose, in a small rowboat, it is a big jump to a full-sized ship that allows you to discover the world. You can get your own Ketch by finishing a quest line called I Need a Bigger Boat. This mission involves finding a wreck, fixing it up, and saving a crew to man the deck.
Here is a manual of all those steps you have to follow to build your first ship and prepare it to fight.

Starting the Quest and Fixing the Ship
The quest starts after the time you have first mined Copper and talked to Doctor Galen at your campfire. He will cross three sites of shipwreck on your map, of which only one may be rescued. You are to establish a fast travelling point at your base, and carry material with you to put up a second one at the wreck you find.
Repairing the ship will require 100 Wood, 20 Nails, 20 Fabric, and 10 Rope. You can make Nails out of Copper Ingots, and Fabric and Rope of Plant Fiber. Repairing the ship will earn you experience and will result in the next mission.
Rescuing the Seven Sailors
After the repairs, you are required to rescue seven of the captured sailors of the pirate camps. A small island will be indicated on your map and there the first prisoner is to be found at the hands of the level two enemies. The rest of the crew are in three other camps on the same island, after rescuing the first one.

There are two captives at the southeast shore camp, two at the northeast shore camp, and two more in the northwest jungle camp. Take care at the jungle camp as there are the greatest number of guards and do not forget to look into the tent or you may leave behind one sailor. Talk to all the sailsmen you set free to enlist them in your vessel.
Introducing and Reporting Back
When all the seven sailors are on board, go back to the ship, and choose the option of launching the ship. After the ship is in the water, use fast travel to go back to your base and talk to Doctor Galen. He will assign you new work in which there is a man called Thomas Richards and a special artifact.
The completion of this conversation completes the primary ship mission and opens a side mission known as The Bitter Pill. You can now make your venture into the open sea with your ship launched.

Dressing up Your Ketch
To fight a ship you must equip it, and a Shipwright's Workshop at your base should be built. This building requires a roof to operate, as does the armor station. You may make it into Boarding Party Gear, 12-Pounders, and Hull Bracing. You can also create a Combat Repair Kit at level two Workbench to repair your ship in the case of battle.
Lastly, construct a Wharf at the coastside so that you are able to control your ship. You can arm your cannons, take in cargo in the hold, and even rename your Ketch, at the Wharf.
