Steam Deck continues to receive updates and compatibility changes as more games arrive on the platform. The Witcher 3 Remastered is expected to work on Steam Deck while bringing improved visuals, Final Fantasy XVI has received verified status, and Everspace 2 is preparing for compatibility improvements.
At the same time, For Honor is losing Steam Deck support because of anti-cheat limitations, while the Mako Decky plugin receives a new update with spatial scaling and frame generation features. The Witcher 3 Remastered was announced for later this year, and one of the main questions has been whether the game will run properly on Steam Deck with its improved graphics and assets.

For Honor Losing Steam Deck Support
For those playing For Honor on Linux devices and the Steam Deck, support is ending. Ubisoft is pulling support for the Linux platform because of anti-cheat concerns. The team explained that it is introducing additional player safety measures to maintain a fair competitive environment.
Because meaningful protection cannot currently be deployed on Linux, For Honor is being removed from the platform. This means For Honor will no longer be playable on Steam Deck starting September 10. Ubisoft says it will continue investigating different ways to improve its anti-cheat system, with the possibility of reopening the platform in the future.
The Lossless Scaling situation also led to questions about the future of frame-generation forks and related tools. Mako is continuing development with an update to Mako Decky, bringing the plugin to version 3.0. The update adds spatial scaling alongside frame generation. You can enable the feature so Mako reconstructs every real frame to the presentation resolution, then optionally applies fixed adaptive frame generation.
The update also includes a cleaner native installation handoff, adaptive recovery when scaling and load are combined, and new controls designed to make the available options easier to understand. We have seen continued development of this plugin, and the new version expands what it can do on Steam Deck.
Final Fantasy XVI receives Steam Deck verified status.
Final Fantasy XVI has now received Steam Deck Verified status. The game has already been tested on the handheld, but it took some time for the official compatibility rating to arrive. Some problems have still been reported, mostly in open-world areas. As some players move through those parts, they've noticed lag and frame rate drops.
That makes me wonder if the game really deserves to be Verified, especially since performance can still change based on where you are in the game. We can keep testing the game to see how it works in new areas and with new updates. The Verified label tells you the two products are compatible, but real-world performance may vary depending on the situation.
We'll track the update and test the game once those changes arrive. If you are interested in Everspace 2, the upcoming update should provide a clearer picture of how the game performs on Steam Deck and whether the final compatibility changes deliver the expected result.
