Indie horror game publisher DreadXP has announced a partnership with AMC Networks Inc. and Shudder to create a video game based on the horror anthology series Creepshow. The development will be led by Creative Director Brian Clarke and Darkstone Digital and will follow the show's anthology format. Darkstone Digital will be just one of "several renowned independent video game developers" contributing to the project.

The franchise began in 1982 with the film Creepshow directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. It was followed by two sequels in 1987 and 2006. The property was rebooted in 2019 by The Walking Dead producer, and prolific special makeup effects supervisor, Greg Nicotero for the horror-based streaming service Shudder. The show is currently in post-production on Season 4 (which will release in 2023) and in the past has starred the likes of Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Joey King (The Kissing Booth), and Tobin Bell (Saw).

This will be DreadXP and Darkstone Digital's second collaboration after 2022's The Mortuary Assistant, with DreadXP producer Ted Hentskchke believing that Brian Clarke's "expertise in crafting lore-rich narratives and clever scares" makes him the right man to lead the project. Shudder's parent company AMC Entertainment was also impressed with Clarke's recent title The Mortuary Assistant, as well as DreadXP's own anthology game the Dread X Collection. AMC VP of Games Clayton Neuman said that "after playing the Dread X Collection... and seeing Brian's twisted genius at work... [AMC knew that they] had found the right partners for this project."

Much like the Dread X Collection, Creepshow will be in an "anthology horror format, consisting of multiple self-contained horror stories that cross gameplay genres and tone." The title is aiming for a 2024 release date and the full list of developers will be announced soon.
