There's something ominous about deep sea oil rigs, grand metal structures standing tall in the open sea, so lonely and so man-made. Still Wakes The Deep is a new horror title that was recently shown off at the Xbox Showcase that took place on 11 June 2023. The game will launch as a day one exclusive of Xbox Gamepass and will truly make you fear the open ocean along with all the hidden things that lurk from its deep dark depths.

The Xbox Showcase has certainly been an exciting event with many game studios taking it as an opportunity to show off all the projects that they're working on, from Persona 3 Reload to Starfield, there certainly was no shortage of announcements. The Xbox Showcase is meant to show off all the things coming to the Xbox platform, including what is coming to Xbox Gamepass, which was revealed to be receiving over 21 new titles. However, one of the more interesting announcements for Gamepass was Still Wakes the Deep, from The Chinese Room - the developers behind Everybody's Gone to the Rapture and Dear Esther.

In this chilling new horror game, players will take on the role of an offshore oil rig worker, who is trapped with their crew on an oil rig while being pursued by an unknown entity. Still Wakes The Deep was sadly overshadowed by many of the bigger announcements such as Starfield and the new Fable game, but the chilling new horror title shows plenty of potential and would definitely be an excellent experience for fans of horror.

For those of you who are not familiar with The Chinese Room, the small British studio formed back in 2007, and is well known for creating games with incredibly story driven gaming experiences. Still Wakes The Deep isn't the Studio's first venture into the horror genre, as the developer has also worked on Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs which was praised for its story. It's very likely that Still Wakes The Deep will likely continue the studio's excellent narrative flare.

If Still Wakes the Deep sounds like a game you simply cannot get your hands on, then sadly you may have to wait some time as the game will only be releasing in early 2024 and will release on Xbox Series X/S as an Xbox exclusive title. Until then, fans can still speculate as to what’s to come and how the game could still change from what we know so far.
