Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a bold step in this beloved series, deviating from traditional norms of the hack-and-slash genre while maintaining its iconic appeal.

This guide covers the Subjugation of Yuan Shu and the Escape from Xiaopei. Each stage presents its own challenges. I'll break down each stage, offering tips and strategies to help you navigate through them efficiently.

The Subjugation of Yuan Shu

The primary objective in the Subjugation of Yuan Shu is to stop any Grand Tactic that Yuan Shu can muster in large force. Most of the time, he will try to cast some kind of blessing effect, which needs some 15% damage to him to interrupt. That is pretty simple for a well-timed kill with a good weapon and great battle art.

Health gems, attack and defense boosts, bravery boosts, and meat buns to heal are items I would recommend taking with you. Begin at the map's bottom by taking out the base nearby to help allies near the gate. Taking the base in the lower right corner sets up some siege towers for an easier run.

This way can be attempted slowly while helping where needed before returning to the front gate to inflict damage. It is advisable to conserve buffs for a later occasion unless you're aiming for a speed run.

Once the first area is secured, journey to the opposite side to aid the Wu in their breakthrough, once that part is dealt with, aid the bottom side with Sun Ce and Lu Bu, then prepare to charge the Yuan Shu army with all your might.

When engaging Yuan Shu's forces, walk at a slow and calculated pace, yet prepare for his blessing. Commonly, he announces it beforehand, giving a chance to prepare. By utilizing the chakram, whose battle art is one of the strongest in existence and draws fire arrows, it gives him a little damage while interrupting his blessing.

That blessing is what Yuan Shu usually aims for with most of his strategy. Sometimes, he may also try little troop buffs, but nothing too impressive. Simply keep him under pressure, do the amount of damage that is needed, carefully utilize True Musou and character-swapping abilities, and victory shall be in sight.

Escape from Xiaopei

In this challenge, the concern is to keep Guan Yu and Zhang Fei above 60% health at the time of victory. Testing indicates that as long as they finish the fight above 60%, the challenge can be considered complete, whether their health dips below during the battle or not.

The setup is exactly as in the previous battle. Speeding up Liu Bei's movement might initially seem wise, but the best method would be to clear the field around Zhang Fei and Guan Yu. Kill all enemies in their vicinity, then head to the right base to clear it. Once they reach the blocked road, clean more enemies while setting up ambushes.

To minimize damage to Guan Yu, counter the ambush by quickly taking down the enemy archers. Use a bravery boost here for a quicker enemy takedown since it is a crucial part where Guan Yu may suffer a lot. And even if his health dips for a while under 60 percent, as long as he recovers before the end, it shall bring no consequences for the challenge.

Engage Zhang Liao after taking care of the archers; he's tough, but it's a must to defeat him. After he's down, clear the base and prepare for phase two. Liu Bei will be struggling at this point, so clear out enemies and rush to help him.

Duel Zhang Ba for a short time and go to assist Xiahou Dun, who might be in trouble as well. The final battle against Chen Gong requires keeping him occupied and away from Guan Yu and Zhang Fei; otherwise, that would pose a danger to their health.

Here, if their health drops low, it might be difficult for them to recover. However, it seems interesting to note that allies heal faster when away from them; their health seems to fall drastically when they are nearby.

Finally, use True Musou to victory by focusing on putting Chen Gong down as fast as possible to avoid additional damage to allies.
