Flames of excitement have once again reignited for Tekken, as many fans were excited about the announcement that a fan favorite character would be making a return after a nearly 19 year long absence. Tekken is a fighting game franchise that is well known for keeping its story and characters ever changing and evolving. With each new installment, the roster and characters grow, so it's nice to see the return of another character that hasn't seen the spotlight in a while.
Bandai Namco has certainly been hard at work making the next installment of their action-packed fighting series, which is considered by many to be one of the most iconic fighting games of all time. The series began back in 1994 and with each new entry, the game's expansive storyline and character roster seemingly just grew and grew. It would seem that the latest entry, Tekken 8, promises to give us an even bigger story mode, and the characters that will be featured within will play major roles.
The most recent trailer that was released on the official Bandai Namco YouTube channel, shows that we will be seeing the grand return of the fan favorite character, Feng, a character who first made his debut almost 19 years ago. With the return of Feng, it looks like the motives for his return is to demand a rematch, many have speculated that this is referencing the game's Closed Beta Test which is scheduled to take place on 20 October 2023. This will also most likely be our first glimpse of some of the exciting mechanics that will be coming to Tekken 8, and who better to show them off than Feng himself.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with our fire-eyebrowed friend. Feng is a fighter that is known for two things, a fighting style that utilizes Kenpo as well as other Chinese martial arts as shown in the trailer where he is seen wiping the floor with Leroy Smith, and his complex character arc. Bringing Feng back is a perfect move made by Bandai Namco as he is the perfect character to show off Tekken 8's story mode and fast paced combat system.
The excitement for Tekken 8 and its upcoming October Closed Beta grows by the day, as we now know the game's release which was revealed on the opening night of GamesCon 2023. Hopefully with its beta test right around the corner, we will finally see the game's roster as well as what will be in store for both new and veteran players
