Rumors of Nintendo ending production of NES Classic Mini has surfaced
News by Grayshadow on Feb 14, 2017
Since releasing last year the NES Classic Mini has become one of the most heavily sought after item for gamers. With retailers, such as the Nintendo Store in NYC, making it mandatory to sell one unit per customer, but rumors have surfaced that the system may be going out of production.
Nintendo has acknowledged the shortages and now according to a Norwegian retailer, Nintendo told them that production has stopped. Spillsjappa made it official on their Facebook page that Nintendo will stop deliveries after March and April.
A Swedish retailer stated the same information and only a few shipments are expected.
The NES Classic Mini has sold over 200,000 units since launching in North America. The console includes 30 games from the NES library and retails for $60. Due to shortages, the consoles have been sold for nearly 2x that amount by scalpers.
