Deathless. Tales of Old Rus | Chudo Yudo Boss Guide
How to defeat the many headed serpeant, Chudo Yudo
Game Guide by Arne on Jan 05, 2025
In Deathless, most bosses have gimmicks that might just lost you the game, if overlooked. This applies for all the bosses. And through each play through, there is no way to avoid them. Each boss also comes with a retinue of followers. They make up the rest of the enemies you face and die as soon as the boss dies. Depending on what part of your run you face the boss on, you will either have one or three normal enemies to fight.
Chudo Yudo Abilities & Attacks
Chudo Yudo is a monster with many snake heads. He's not very tanky and can deal absurd amounts of damage as the rounds go on. That being said, he isn't particularly very threatening. His attacks come in the form of both ranged and melee attacks of the same variety, and they change based on what card you play. He also instantly switches between melee and ranged attacks depending on his position.
The attacks also come in three types:
- Double Attacks: Where they attack two times.
- Piercing Attacks: Where they ignore your armour.
- Wounding Attacks: Where they add a wound card to your deck along with his attack.
His abilities on the other hand are pretty straightforward. First of all, he has Simmering Rage, which gives him Strength every time you fail to damage him. This is what makes him scale the more you waste time on other enemies during his boss battle. His only other ability is Swift Reaction, this basically lets him change his intention based on the card you last played. Attack cards make him do his double attack, Skills make him do his piercing attack and using Boons make him do his wounding attack.
How to Beat Chudo Yudo
Chudo Yudo requires you to quickly get past the other enemies on the battlefield to engage him. You can usually just use movement/skill cards to get it done, however remember that skill cards cause him to ignore your armour. In this case, you should always make sure that your hero has enough hitpoints. Relying on armour is usually a poor choice against him, but note that the rest of the enemies don’t have any piercing abilities.
You should stop using armour cards, at least the ones you get from skills once all the other enemies except Chudo Yudo are dead. On the other hand, boons are actually worthwhile to drop just so you don’t have to deal with his piercing or double attacks.
Out of all of this, it is imperative that you don’t stop dealing damage to him. He starts off at the back, so having movement cards or cards that deal damage to the backline is useful. Overall, he still remains one of the more easier enemies to deal with.
