By now it's no surprise that Fortnite is sitting at the top of the Battle Royale pile while competitors (and its somewhat-forgotten Save The World mode) throw envious stares from below. Epic Games have announced that 125 million players have given Fortnite a shot in less than a year. Furthermore, the developer has given more details on the upcoming 2018-2019 competitive season. The $100,000,000 prize pool announced a while back will be split between a number of different competitions.

As stated in a post on the developer's website, the money will go to "community organized events, online events, and major organized competitions all over the world, where anyone can participate, and anyone can win." Qualifiers for the Fortnite World Cup will begin in Fall 2018, with the cup itself taking place in late 2019. The World Cup will focus on Solos and Duos, but those who prefer Squad play will also have competitions to look forward to. As of yesterday, Fortnite is also available on the Nintendo Switch.
