Supergiant's Rogue-like Dungeon Crawler Hades Is Live On The Epic Games Store

Supergiant Games has unveiled its new game, Hades, at this year's The Game Awards. The studio's fourth title carries its signature art style and isometric perspective, while treading new ground in terms of setting and gameplay, just like the projects before it.

Hades is a "rogue-like dungeon crawler [...] in which you defy the god of death as you hack and slash your way out of the Underworld of Greek myth". Subsequent playthroughs will have players making use of powers from different Greek gods while braving new challenges.

Hades is the first Supergiant title to go through Early Access. "Though the game is a work-in-progress, we think Hades already offers many hours of exciting action and engrossing narrative. We felt it was in an ideal spot for us to continue development in partnership with our players, to help us make it even better.", the studio wrote in a post on its website. The game will, naturally receive content updates as time goes by.

Although rogue-likes are combat-centric by design, Supergiant assures players that Hades won't lack story. "The opportunity to deliver story in a serial fashion during Early Access is one of the many reasons we were excited to go this route with Hades. Think of our Early Access launch as the pilot episode of a new series. You can look forward to meeting close to 20 different fully voiced characters, and experiencing the setup for the story, along with hours of unique events and interactions.". More characters are also planned to be added further down the line.

Hades is currently available in Early Access on the Epic Games Store.
