Deathless. Tales of Old Rus | Leshy Boss Guide

One of the more annoying bosses to beat, here's how to deal with the Leshy

In Deathless. Tales of Old Rus, the Leshy is one of the many bosses you can face during your journey. They are one of the more unassuming bosses to face as they become very strong if you are not paying attention and in later stages, especially if you get them as the third boss.

The Leshy only has melee attacks and nothing more. This makes them infinitely predictable since you always know what they are doing. This also makes movement cards very good against them since they don’t have a ranged option. This is especially useful as Varvara, who can use the monsters he comes with against him, constantly pushes him back. This also makes the monsters he comes with more of an asset than anything.

His status effects make him a pretty strong tank and heavy hitter if left unchecked. His first effect is ‘Oak Bark,’ which gives him armor every time he loses health. This also stacks, meaning if you attack him three times and he loses health all three times, he’ll have 3 armor at the end. He also gets the armor at the end of your attacks, so effectively, any attack you do that deals 2-3 damage will end up doing only 1 or no damage at all.

His second effect is ‘Onslaught,’ which grants him a stack of vigor every time you spend 1 Action Point on non-attack cards. Onslaught is scary because it restricts what you can do and basically makes a lot of your defensive cards useless. It also turns Leshy into a super heavy hitter if you spam cards.

How to Beat Leshy

Now the Leshy basically forces you to go all out on offense, leaving really nothing for defense. You should not use armor cards at all unless they give more than two armor. This is because, chances are, the armor you get won’t matter because it also gives Leshy equal amounts of vigor. This is also the case for expensive skills and boons.

Especially in the case of boons, it is just not worth it to get them. Instead, play attack cards; try to use the ones that deal with low damage to chip at his armor, regardless of origin. And then, use your big damage cards to chip at his health. Generally, you should usually have more attack cards and health than Leshy can handle, so the overall goal here is just out-damaging him.

His allies aren’t really an issue to deal with; however, since they are all always ranged, you might want to try and reposition them and take them out, just so you don’t have to deal with that extra damage. However, be careful not to risk using too many movement cards to shift their location, as it might make the Leshy too powerful.
