This month, the Ace Combat series secretly celebrated its 30th anniversary. A special message from Kazutoki Kono, who has been in charge of the series for a long time, has sparked new rumors about what will happen next in Bandai Namco's most popular flight combat series. Even though there isn't an official trailer or gaming footage yet, Kono's words were more than just a ceremony; they were a clear sign that the next part of this long-running series is about to begin.
In an open letter to fans, Kono told them how grateful he was for all the people around the world who have backed Ace Combat for 30 years. He acknowledged the many changes the series has undergone, including changes in technology, player standards, and within the team.

However, he stressed that one thing has always been there: the dedication to the people who made Ace Combat a famous name in flight combat games. "Everything is in place" was the line that got everyone excited. It's time to take off again and reach even higher levels. The meaning is clear, even though it is subtle. There will soon be a new Ace Combat game, likely the long-awaited Ace Combat 8.
Over six years have passed since Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown came out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. When it came out in early 2019, the game was a big hit with both critics and players. It brought the series back to life with modern graphics, an immersive story, and a perfect mix between arcade action and real-life aviation.
Since then, it has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, making it the franchise's best-selling game. Ace Combat has now sold more than 20 million copies around the world, which is a huge number for a game that doesn't get a lot of attention.
Even though Kono's message is about honoring the past and looking forward to the future, it also respects the series' ability to keep that delicate balance. Ace Combat has always been changing, adding new features like cutting-edge rendering, more realistic aircraft mechanics, and more complex storylines, but it has never lost the thrill of fast dogfights and dramatic aerial moves.
The letter also brings up again what has always been the most important thing about the series: the connection between the creator and the fans. "The connection with the fans is what keeps the show going," Kono said. "It's becoming stronger every day." Ace Combat has a huge group of dedicated fans who love to break down the game's history, guess what will happen in future games, and praise the series' unique mix of military drama and mind-blowing spectacle.

Bandai Namco hasn't made an official announcement about Ace Combat 8, but it was previously revealed that work was already being done on the game with the help of ILCA, the company that worked on Ace Combat 7 and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Since Kono recently said something, people are now really hoping that there will be a full reveal before the end of the year, maybe at Gamescom or The Game Awards. As Ace Combat is now in its fourth decade, one thing is for sure: it's not ready to land just yet. Instead, it's getting ready for another climb, which will be the most difficult and exciting ride it has ever had.
