Beast of Reincarnation Preload Goes Live as Launch Details and PC Specs Raise Questions
With preload now available ahead of launch, Game Freak has confirmed release timing, updated its PC requirements, and shared what players can expect from both the Standard and Deluxe editions.

If you're planning to jump into Beast of Reincarnation on day one, you can already start preparing. Preload is officially live, and with launch only days away, Game Freak has shared a handful of updates covering release timing, PC system requirements, and the game's available editions.
Players who pre-ordered the game on Steam or purchased a key through another retailer can now preload it ahead of release. The download size currently sits at 31.8 GB, which is surprisingly small compared to many recent AAA releases that often exceed 70, 80, or even 100 GB before launch.

Game Freak also confirmed exactly when the game will unlock around the world.
Beast of Reincarnation officially launches at 00:00 UTC on August 4, which translates to the evening of August 3 for players in North America. Players across Europe, Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia will gain access overnight, while those in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania will begin playing on the morning of August 4.
Alongside the preload announcement, Game Freak acknowledged that it had recently updated the PC specifications listed on the game's store page. According to the developer, the original specifications contained mistakes, and the current list reflects the correct hardware requirements.
Even so, the revised recommendations have continued to generate discussion because they still leave some players concerned about how well the game will perform on launch day. Many are now waiting for hands-on previews and independent performance tests to see whether the final build can meet expectations across a range of PC hardware.
The minimum requirements themselves appear fairly accessible. You'll need either an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and either a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 580 graphics card. Those GPUs are several generations old, making the minimum specification look surprisingly forgiving for a modern action RPG.
The listed storage requirement is 45 GB, although the preload itself currently occupies considerably less space before installation is fully unpacked. That figure could still increase slightly once all launch files, updates, and optional content are fully installed.
The performance targets attached to those minimum specifications are where things become slightly more complicated. Game Freak says those components are intended to deliver 1080p gameplay at 40 frames per second using low settings with upscaling technologies enabled.

That includes DLSS for supported RTX graphics cards and FSR for other compatible hardware.
Because the minimum GPU itself is a GTX 1070, the wording surrounding DLSS support has created some confusion among players trying to understand the expected performance. As a result, many hope the developers will provide additional clarification before launch to explain exactly how to interpret those recommendations.
Those minimum specifications have also led to growing optimism that the game could perform reasonably well on Steam Deck. Although Valve has not yet officially verified Beast of Reincarnation for the handheld, its 800p display demands less rendering power than a standard 1080p monitor.
The recommended requirements, however, have attracted considerably more attention. Game Freak recommends an Intel Core i7-12700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor, 16 GB of RAM, and either an RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6700 XT. On paper, those graphics cards are still considered mid-range options, but the expected performance target has become the biggest point of discussion.
According to the recommended specifications, those components are designed for medium settings at 1080p and 60 frames per second while using DLSS upscaling. That means the game is not expected to reach those results at native 1080p rendering.
Since Beast of Reincarnation is also launching on the standard PlayStation 5, some PC players have questioned why an RTX 3060 would require upscaling simply to achieve medium settings at Full HD resolution.
Those numbers have fueled concerns about overall PC optimization rather than the hardware itself. Viewed without context, the recommended GPU may not seem especially demanding. Once you take the performance targets into account, however, the expectations begin to look more demanding than many anticipated.

There is also another factor adding to the uncertainty.
Beast of Reincarnation represents Game Freak's first major AAA action title, meaning the studio does not have much history to judge when it comes to large-scale PC releases. Comparisons to previous Pokémon games are not very useful, since the scope and technology of this project are so different.
PC launches have become increasingly difficult to predict in recent years. Some games arrive with intimidating system requirements yet ultimately perform extremely well, while others launch with serious optimization issues despite targeting powerful hardware.
Because of that unpredictability, many players are treating Beast of Reincarnation with cautious optimism until performance reviews and player impressions become available after release. Those early impressions will likely determine whether the recommended specifications prove accurate or if further optimization is needed after launch.
Game Freak also confirmed pricing for both available editions. The Standard Edition will cost $59.99 and will receive a physical release, something that collectors may appreciate given that this marks the studio's first major AAA project. Every pre-order includes the Brown Sheba skin along with 30,000 Amber, giving early buyers a few extra in-game rewards when they begin their adventure.
Players looking for additional cosmetic content can also purchase the Deluxe Edition for $69.99.
That version includes the Oni's Hat, the Big Dipper, and the Black Sheba skin in addition to the standard pre-order bonuses. The extra content is more cosmetic than gameplay additions, but it gives fans another choice depending on how they plan to experience the game.
Outside of the PC hardware disc additions, Beast of Reincarnation continues to generate excitement due to its gameplay structure. Rather than following the traditional Soulslike formula, the game combines action RPG combat with command-based mechanics.

Successful parries build a Focus Meter, which then allows you to activate abilities alongside your companion, Coup, creating a combat system that blends real-time action with tactical decision-making.
Everything shown so far suggests that the combat systems are designed to work together rather than exist separately. Defensive timing feeds directly into offensive abilities, while companion commands naturally flow back into standard action combat. Combined with its distinct art direction, soundtrack, and an estimated 30 to 40 hours of gameplay, Beast of Reincarnation is shaping up to be one of Game Freak's most ambitious projects to date.
With preload already live and launch just around the corner, the remaining conversation now centers on performance rather than content. The game's world, combat, and presentation have made a strong first impression, but PC players will be paying especially close attention to optimization once the servers go live.
