Marvel's Wolverine has been shrouded in mystery for a while now. We know that Insomniac Games is currently developing the game, as there won't be any story DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. While we've been anticipating a release date of Marvel's Wolverine or at least an update on the current progression of development, the game took a huge tumble.

Yes, Brian Horton is no longer the Creative Director of Marvel's Wolverine from PlayStation and Insomniac Games. According to Xbox and The Initiative, he is currently working as the Creative Director of Perfect Dark. Neither Insomniac Games nor Brian Horton has yet provided an official statement on their stance on this news.

Despite being publicly announced as the Creative Director of the upcoming Marvel's Wolverine PS5 game from Sony and Insomniac in 2021, Brian Horton has been away from the project since the summer. Marcus Smith, the game's current Creative Director, has most likely been backing the project.

But as things are now, Marvel's Wolverine will now be taken over by the Ratchet & Clank veteran Mike Daly as the game's new Director. While it's great that Marcus Smith and Mike Daly will be taking over as Marvel's Wolverine new leads, it does leave many of us wondering why Brian Horton left in the first place.

With all of this news, it's crucial to remember that Brian Horton formerly worked for the developer who is presently working on Perfect Dark with Crystal Dynamics. Before joining Insomniac full-time, he was one of the primary creatives in charge of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider series. Perhaps the whole team of developers working on Perfect Dark just needed Brian's direction to ensure a high-quality outcome.

For anyone who is concerned about this changeover, Smith and Daly, who were formerly the Creative Director and game director of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Insomniac's 2021 PlayStation 5 release, respectively, make an ideal new team for Marvel's Wolverine. Anyone who has played Rift Apart knows that it is an incredible game. This new leadership change for Marvel's Wolverine development team might actually positively change things.

Fans of Insomniac Games are probably still concerned about what the future holds for Marvel's Wolverine. Every time a major creative leaves a project while it's in production, whether it's a movie, TV program, or video game, it makes the fans nervous about the quality of what is to come. It would've been serious if word got out that Brian had opted to leave the project before Marvel's Spider-Man 3—another game that Insomniac Games is probably prepping to develop.

Anyway, Marvel's Wolverine has been teased for quite some time, and it has been under wraps for a while. The only thing that matters is that the game lives up to the high expectations set by Marvel fans. So we wish Brian Horton all the best with his new project, Perfect Dark, and at the same time, let's hope Smith and Daly do what they do best and make Marvel's Wolverine a success.
