Cuphead had its fair share of delays but, by the looks of it, 2017 will be the year when Studio MDHR's game will finally grace our screens. Featuring visuals inspired by vintage Fleischer Studios and Disney animations, among others, and stuff like Contra III and Super Mario World being inspiration on the gameplay side, Cuphead is described as a boss rush title. However, that doesn't mean we'll just fight bosses, as, with time passing platforming sequences also made their way into the game. A pretty neat little FAQ on the studio's website mentions that about a quarter of our time spent with the game will be going through platforming sequences.
All the visuals in Cuphead are created with techniques used in the era. Furthermore, the soundtrack will feature original jazz recordings. The title will also feature local co-op where a friend can play the role of Mugman and aid Cuphead in his adventures. Cuphead is set to release on September 29th, 2017 on Xbox One and PC.
