This is the first time the game will be available on a Nintendo and Microsoft system.
Final Fantasy VIII is considered the black sheep of the series. With mixed reception one of the most highly criticized feature was allowing the enemies to level up with the player, making the need for grinding unnecessary. In addition, the Draw system made grinding for magical spells a tedious task.
This version of the game will include a 3x speed boost option, similar to Final Fantasy IX HD and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, no encounters option, and battle assist to make battles easier. Those with the Steam version will automatically get the update for free along with all items, all abilities, GF Max Level, Max Gil, Max Magic, All Limit Breaks, and All Cards. Basically everything you need to make the game easier.
What did shine was the narrative. With Final Fantasy VIII taking a step forward in the military-focused Final Fantasy games. Having you take on assassins and covert operations.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on September 3.
