Game Informer has revealed a collection of new GTA 6 details alongside 12 new screenshots, giving you another look at Rockstar’s upcoming open-world game. The new images cover everything from downtown Vice City and its busy beaches to rural fields, swamps, wildlife, and some of the activities Jason and Lucia will get involved in.

The accompanying interview with Rockstar also goes into more detail about Leonida's scale and the systems used to make the world feel more alive. It covers everything from the game's dynamic weather and wildlife to its detailed environments, interiors, and activities.

The first screenshot focuses on downtown Vice City and shows the Sahara Arena standing among the city’s skyscrapers.

The arena is based on real-life Miami, and the surrounding area provides you a better sense of how large Rockstar’s version of the city will feel. You can also spot a Ferris wheel with its lights reflecting around it, while a plane and helicopter appear in the distance. The sheer number of buildings packed into this part of the city also highlights Rockstar’s focus on making Vice City feel dense rather than simply filling the skyline with scenery.

Another screenshot takes you to the beach, where Jason and Lucia find themselves in a surprisingly busy environment. Details such as sunscreen and sweat are visible on the characters, while a seagull, a dog, and several other people fill out the scene. One person is even running around with an American flag, adding another small detail to the crowded beach.

The next image moves away from the city and into one of Leonida’s rural areas, where a crop duster is flying extremely close to the ground over a field. A truck is parked nearby, with what appears to be a crate being unloaded. You can also see the aircraft kicking up dust particles as it passes over the ground.

In another screenshot, Jason and Lucia also appear together, and it shows the pair on a date in Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar has previously discussed the relationship between the two characters, and the image seems to offer another look at how those moments can happen outside the main action.

The surrounding landscape is filled with natural scenery, making it noticeably different from the busy streets of Vice City. It also offers another glimpse of how much of Leonida exists beyond the urban areas Rockstar has shown most often.

The weather system gets its own moment in another screenshot, where a cargo plane appears to be dropping off a package while dark clouds and lightning gather in the background.

The scene gives the impression of some kind of drug operation taking place just as a storm approaches the area. Another image shows Jason robbing a store while a man in the background is apparently sleeping through the entire situation. Jason is carrying a baseball bat in the scene, creating another example of the different situations you can encounter throughout the world.

Rockstar is also showing more of Leonida’s swamp environments, including a screenshot featuring several crocodiles near a dock. Two people appear to be feeding the animals from a bucket, giving you another look at how wildlife can become part of the world rather than simply appearing in the background.

Lucia is also shown hiding during what appears to be a drug deal, with a rifle in her hands as one of the people nearby seems to realize that something is happening. Other screenshots include a nightclub, Jason riding a quad bike near wildlife, and a motorcycle scene outside what appears to be a biker bar.

The new Game Informer interview offers more on why Rockstar returned to Vice City and expanded the setting into Leonida. Rockstar explained that the team was coming off GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, so expectations for the next game were already extremely high. Returning to Vice City gave the developers a familiar location while still leaving room to build something significantly larger.

Although Vice City has appeared in previous games, Rockstar spent years visiting Miami and South Florida to study the region for GTA 6. The team reportedly experienced different parts of the area, including nighttime locations, clubs, beaches, the Everglades, the Florida Keys, and other surrounding areas.

They used that research to help shape Leonida and give the game a stronger connection to real-world Florida. Instead of simply recreating specific landmarks, Rockstar appears to be using Florida's broader character as the foundation for the entire map.

Rockstar describes Leonida as the biggest map it has ever created by a significant margin, with the world being roughly twice the size of GTA 5’s map.

The developers are also emphasizing density, detail, and interaction rather than focusing only on the overall size. Rooftops, alleys, interiors, and smaller spaces are all part of the world, with Rockstar saying the number of interiors eventually reached a point where buildings began to feel more realistic both inside and out.

The map will include Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Rockstar has also discussed areas inspired by central Florida, including locations with a more Orlando-like feel, theme parks, and the Space Coast.

The developers say they continually evaluate the variety of landscapes, towns, landmarks, and plant species across the map. Leonida will not necessarily recreate every major Florida location exactly, but Rockstar wants the areas it does include to contribute to the overall Florida experience.

Weather is another major part of the new details, with Rockstar explaining that GTA 6 features a reworked system designed to make conditions feel more localized and persistent. Fully dynamic cloudscapes can move across the map, creating different weather conditions as they travel.

You can experience everything from clear and sunny weather to sudden lightning storms, while localized rain can also develop during your time in a particular area. A mission could begin under sunny skies and later continue through an actual rainstorm. The changing conditions are designed to make the weather feel like an active part of the world rather than something that simply changes in the background.

The weather system also includes realistic rainbows under the right lighting conditions and an updated wind system. After sunset, offshore breezes can occur, and buildings and other environmental factors can also affect the wind. Strong gusts can move hair and debris, create ripples across water, and bend grass in swamp areas.

Tropical storms and hurricanes will also appear in GTA 6, although Rockstar has not explained how frequently they will occur.

The studio describes these events as combining heavy clouds, strong winds, dense atmospheric effects, and heavy rain. During these storms, water can pour from rooftops, thunder can roll across the environment, and lightning can illuminate the surrounding area. This result aims to create a more complete Florida storm experience in the game.

Wildlife is receiving similar attention, with Rockstar planning a wide range of animals across Leonida’s different environments. The game will feature native Florida wildlife alongside invasive species, including feral cats, cane toads, and nine-banded armadillos. You can also encounter different types of monkeys, while aquatic environments will include sharks, whales, rays, turtles, and jellyfish. These animals have their own movements and behaviors rather than serving as simple background decorations.

Rockstar is also adding environmental effects that can change how animals look depending on their surroundings.

Dirt can affect their appearance, while wet animals can show different color variations depending on the lighting. The game will include 60 different bird types and 30 land animals, along with various fish, reptiles, and other species that Rockstar has not fully detailed yet.

There will also be plenty of activities outside the main story, including base jumping, billiards, going to the gym, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, off-road racing, street racing, visiting zoos, airboating, and jet skiing. These activities give you more ways to spend time across Leonida when you are not focused on the main missions.

Rockstar says a large part of GTA 6’s detail extends to NPC variety, clothing, activities, and other systems designed to give you more reasons to interact with the world. The new screenshots and interview together suggest that Rockstar is putting considerable effort into making Leonida feel populated and reactive across both its cities and wilderness.

With the new information and screenshots now available, GTA 6 is offering a broader look at the world Rockstar has been building. The focus is not only on making Vice City larger but also on filling the surrounding regions with wildlife, weather changes, activities, interiors, and environmental details. As the November 19 release date gets closer, more information about Leonida and the game’s different systems is expected to emerge.
