Motion Twin States Dead Cells 2 is Unlikely to Happen
Don't expect a Dead Cells 2

Dead Cells is one of the best games of 2018, easily gaining popular reception from gamers and critics. While many would assume a sequel should be created to capitalize on the popularity Motion Twin game designer Sébastien Bénard tempered expectations about a possible sequel.
When asked about a sequel Dead Cells 2, Bénard shared his personal thoughts on the matter in an interview with Gameinformer:
In terms of a sequel, we know for sure it’s not a good idea to dwell on your success. If you create a big hit, it’s best to use this energy to make something different. I don’t think we’ll make a Dead Cells 2. We’re more open to creating more content and opening the game up more to the community. If we did make a Dead Cells 2, it’s because we really need the money (laughs). We don’t want to stick to the same thing though, so I think if we did come back it would be something quite different, not a platformer or roguelike along these lines.
Post-launch content is expected to come with the latest update adding a new custom game mode and more challenges. Looks like Motion Twin is more focused on supporting Dead Cells than making a new installment, which is mainly it was such a successful early-access title.
Dead Cells is now available for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review here.
