While fans are anticipating the launching titles for Nintendo Switch 2, with the Switch 2 Direct approaching, the pricing of the Nintendo Switch 2 has become one of the most talked-about topics of this new console. Some believe Nintendo will charge significantly more for the Switch 2, while others try to avoid this argument altogether. A few analysts disagree with the general perception that Nintendo Switch 2 will cost approximately $500, but many have predicted that it will be closer to that mark.
Bloomberg covered the story, citing conversations with many prominent experts who all agreed that the final price would be $400. However, an analyst from Toyo Securities disagreed with this assessment. They said that the Nvidia processor included in the first Switch is projected to cost $80 per unit, but the chip included in the Switch 2 is likely to cost between $130 and $150. They said they would not be shocked if Nintendo proceeded with the $499 price tag.
There is still some debate about the pricing, and I think they made a valid point in expressing their disapproval. The majority still seems to think it will be $400, which, if accurate, should be good news for everyone. Considering that it is only $50 more expensive than the Switch OLED, the $450 price tag of Switch 2 seems to be quite reasonable.
The Switch really ought to have reduced its price a long time ago, to be honest, perhaps something Nintendo is planning on doing within a week. And even if they don't, I wouldn't be surprised since Switch sales have been skyrocketing anyway. With over 150 million units sold, Nintendo Switch has achieved an impressive new sales record. Besides, Nintendo has their own ways of doing things when it comes to their games and console pricing.
However, there's also another concern about the console's availability after launch. The good news is that Nintendo has a sufficient supply of Switch 2 for the first month of its launch. While it's understandable that many fans are worried about this, an expert has forecast that Nintendo has six to eight million Switch 2 ready for shipping—a phenomenal number of units.
This confirms the theory that Nintendo has been stockpiling Switch 2 units to some extent. They have even publicly stated that they are making every effort to ensure a successful launch. While the PlayStation 5 was out of stock for months upon months, it sold an impressive 3.4 million units in its first month. If Nintendo can achieve even half of that in its first month, it would be an impressive indication. And to be fair, that's a lot of gaming consoles and enough to set a new record for launching sales. If it doesn't deter scalpers, I'm not sure what else they can do.
