Peter Moore has announced that he is joining Unity as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sports and Live Entertainment. This marks a four year absence from the game industry after leaving to become CEO of the Liverpool Football Club. Moore has a long history in the game’s industry, holding executive roles in companies like Sega, Microsoft, and Electronic Arts. One of his more interesting tactics was suggesting that consumers purchase both an Xbox 360 and Wii together, since the total price was initially cheaper than the PlayStation 3 alone.

Many diehard fans of the Dreamcast and Shenmue series have held Moore responsible for Sega’s fall from glory and exit from the hardware business. Moore has admitted that Sega of Japan gave him the final call to stop hardware manufacturing once it became clear competing with the Sony PlayStation 2 was nearly impossible. Hopefully this historic grudge does not tarnish Moore’s time with Unity.
