The next PlayStation State of Play is getting closer, and the amount of rumors surrounding the showcase is starting to spiral out of control. Between reports about GTA 6 Trailer 3, Marvel's Wolverine finally showing real gameplay, and whispers of new God of War projects, it feels like this State of Play could end up being one of Sony's biggest events in a long time. At the same time, none of these reports are official yet, so you still need to take everything with a grain of salt until PlayStation actually steps on stage.
One of the biggest games expected to appear during the State of Play is Marvel's Wolverine. PlayStation has already confirmed the game will be part of the showcase, but what really matters now is how much Sony is willing to reveal. After years of waiting, you probably don't want another short cinematic teaser. What people really want from this State of Play is raw gameplay footage that finally shows how Wolverine actually plays.

There's a lot of interest in seeing how brutal the combat system feels, how violent Logan can get, and whether the darker tone that PlayStation promised is actually there. Insomniac already built a huge amount of trust through the Spider-Man games, but Wolverine feels like the project that could push the studio even further.
If PlayStation delivers a mature, cinematic action game with heavy combat, it could easily become one of the biggest exclusives on the platform.
There is also discussion around GTA 6, which mainly centers on its marketing rollout and a fresh wave of State of Play speculation. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6 is still on track for its November 19, 2026, release and also reiterated that the game's marketing phase is expected to begin in the summer.
While that technically means the full promotional push hasn't started yet, it has sparked debate about what counts as "marketing," especially since internal trailers and early reveals may not fall under the same category as paid ads, TV spots, or large-scale campaigns.
On top of that, a new rumor from a relatively trusted insider suggests that a GTA 6 trailer could drop on Tuesday, with claims that Rockstar Games may also have something prepared for Sony's upcoming State of Play event. Other leakers have echoed confidence in the source, adding fuel to the speculation that GTA 6 could appear in some form during the showcase.
However, expectations are being tempered, with the more likely scenario being a short trailer or marketing announcement tied to PlayStation partnerships—possibly including a bundle or limited-edition hardware—rather than a full new trailer reveal.
Another rumored appearance for the State of Play is Fairgames, which reportedly now goes by the name Break In.
When PlayStation first announced the project, the reaction was fairly mixed, and the game never really became a major talking point. Because of that, this State of Play could act as a complete relaunch for the project if the rebrand rumors are real.
The biggest issue for PlayStation right now is making sure the gameplay actually looks fun. Live-service games are under a microscope these days, and players are far less forgiving than they used to be. If Sony only shows another cinematic trailer during the State of Play, the reaction could go downhill very quickly. Actual gameplay is what people want to see.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is another game that feels very likely to show up during the PlayStation showcase. Since Marvel has become such an important part of PlayStation's lineup, it makes sense for Sony to continue giving these projects a lot of attention.
A huge part of the excitement surrounding this game comes from the roster itself, as the playable heroes will likely determine how big the hype gets.
You also want to see how the combat mechanics work because PlayStation's Marvel games have mostly focused on story-driven experiences up until now. A fighting game approach changes things completely. If the gameplay looks smooth and visually flashy, the game could attract attention very quickly once the State of Play airs.
Marathon is another project that feels extremely important for PlayStation right now. Any new game from Bungie automatically comes with massive expectations, but there's also a lot of caution around live-service shooters these days. That's why this State of Play feels like an important moment for Marathon because Sony really needs to explain exactly what the game is.
The early teasers already showed off a strong sci-fi style and atmosphere, but now you need to see the actual gameplay loop. If Marathon ends up looking like just another shooter, the excitement may fade fast. But if the gameplay matches the energy and style from those early teasers, this could end up becoming one of the standout games of the entire PlayStation showcase.
Aside from the more likely reveals, there are several projects in the "possible" category.
One of the biggest is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog. Whenever Naughty Dog starts working on a brand-new IP, expectations immediately shoot through the roof. Even though PlayStation already revealed the game, there's still very little known about it.
The original trailer was cryptic and left many questions unanswered, so this State of Play feels like the perfect place to show more of the world and its tone, finally. Even a short gameplay segment would probably be enough to get people far more interested. There's also a lot of curiosity around what kind of visual quality Naughty Dog can deliver with a full PlayStation 5 release.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora is another rumored game that could quietly become one of the nicest surprises from the State of Play. The first Kena game built a strong following because of its atmosphere and emotional tone, and a sequel could easily expand on that foundation. You can expect a lot of interest in seeing new locations, new spirits, and a bigger world overall.

With so many heavy-action games rumored for the PlayStation event, something more magical and emotional, like Kena: Scars of Kosmora, could help balance the showcase nicely.
There are also growing rumors around Horizon Hunters Gathering. PlayStation clearly wants Horizon to stay one of its biggest franchises, and reports suggest this project could take the series into multiplayer territory. If that's true, then this State of Play would probably be the first real look at how cooperative gameplay works in the Horizon universe. The idea of hunting giant mechanical creatures alongside other players could completely change how the franchise feels. It would also show PlayStation pushing another major IP in a different direction.
Gran Turismo is also expected to appear during the State of Play, although probably in a smaller role. You'll likely see updates involving new tracks, additional cars, or technical improvements. PlayStation usually includes Gran Turismo in these presentations in some form, especially when showing off the hardware's power. With the PlayStation 5 Pro now part of the conversation, there's also interest in seeing how much further the visuals can improve. Gran Turismo already looks incredibly realistic, so even small upgrades could still stand out.
The biggest rumors surrounding the State of Play, though, are easily connected to God of War. One report claims PlayStation may reveal a spin-off focused on Faye. Even though she plays a huge role in the modern God of War story, there's still a massive amount about her that remains unexplored.
A game centered around Faye could take the series in a very different direction from Kratos while exploring her connection to the Giants in more detail. It could also lean more heavily into emotional storytelling. If PlayStation wants a massive ending for the State of Play, revealing a brand-new God of War project like this would absolutely dominate the conversation online.
Another huge rumor is a God of War Trilogy Remake.
For longtime PlayStation fans, this is basically dream announcement territory. The original trilogy remains one of the most iconic eras in PlayStation history, and seeing those Greek mythology games rebuilt with modern visuals would instantly become one of the biggest gaming stories around.
Just imagining the boss fights from God of War 3 running on modern PlayStation hardware is enough to get old-school fans excited. If Santa Monica Studio is actually working on a remake collection, there's a good chance it would completely steal the entire State of Play.
There are also rumors involving several PlayStation studios that have stayed quiet for years. Bend Studio's next game remains a mystery after Days Gone, while Team Asobi could be preparing something much larger following the success of Astro Bot. Media Molecule is another studio that people continue watching closely because the developer is known for creating unusual and creative projects.

At this point, it feels very possible that PlayStation could end the State of Play with a completely unexpected new IP from one of its internal studios.
Out of all the rumors floating around right now, the possible God of War Faye project is becoming one of the most talked-about ideas. Many players felt there was always more story to tell from her perspective, especially after the recent God of War games. If the project is real, it could easily become the biggest surprise of the entire State of Play.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is also starting to gain more attention as the showcase gets closer. Despite being developed by Naughty Dog, the game strangely hasn't dominated the conversation the way many expected. Still, there's a feeling that the moment PlayStation drops a proper gameplay trailer or cinematic scene, opinions could change very quickly.
Right now, the next PlayStation State of Play is shaping up to be one of Sony's most important showcases in years. PlayStation fans are expecting a massive event once the presentation finally begins, with a lineup that includes GTA 6, Wolverine, God of War rumors, Marathon, Intergalactic, and several possible surprises.
