PS5 UI Update Leak and Uncharted 5 Rumors Explained

A refreshed PlayStation interface surfaces alongside new reports of Naughty Dog’s next big project.

The purpose of this piece is to discuss recent improvements to the PlayStation. Various users have reported a new interface on the PlayStation main screen, and while it's a fairly simple redesign in terms of some of the elements, this would be really beneficial for the PlayStation UI, so it could be undergoing a change.

Thus, we will address that matter. Now it appears that there were rumblings of an Uncharted 5 before the world went dark, which makes sense. It may seem like a long time ago, but in 2019 or 2020, talks about a game like that started. Even if Uncharted 5 were to materialize, it would still be a ways off; nonetheless, we will debate it, and it would be informative about the upcoming additional games.

We'll go into it later, but for now, just know that PS5 and other platforms are getting a new home interface. The PlayStation home screen has reportedly undergone some changes, with new icons reorganized that indicate an improved user experience and simpler navigation to PlayStation Plus elements, the PlayStation store, and the games library. This is definitely a positive development.

How the library is now conveniently located, and how the media apps are easy to use, among other things, are really likable. It's not like a total redesign, but seriously, the PlayStation layout could be optimized a bit. Even after five or six years, they have done nothing to improve the PlayStation UI. It works fine, and some actually prefer the minimalist aesthetic compared to Xbox's layout.

In comparison to PlayStation's clean design, Xbox's interface is a touch too busy for one’s taste.

Beyond the XMB, they will never progress. It may be a result of nostalgia, but still, the XMB was completely rigged. In that era, XMBs stood in for social media and the constant barrage of advertisements. It is known that they're attempting to sell games, and it's what they have to do. No one is advocating a return to the XMB, but that platform was fantastic in some people's opinions.

The disc is present when you power on your PS3. A brief hover over the disc will reveal what appears to be the background and, possibly, the beginning of a track. Just a short distance away is the PlayStation store. There will be no barrage of advertisements or anything of the sort. Back in the day, man. Back in the day, things were simpler.

Regardless, the PS5's design is decent for 2026, and people are hoping that more improvements and fixes will be coming out soon. We'll make sure to keep you all informed about when those minor updates will be formally released and made available to more users. Also, various sources reported that Naughty Dog was working on an Uncharted 5 before the lockdown.

This follows the director of The Last of Us Online, or the former director of The Last of Us Online, stating that Naughty Dog had two single-player projects in development when The Last of Us Online was canceled. Clearly, Intergalactic was one of such games. Some have hypothesized that Uncharted 5 might be the other game. Might this be the third installment of The Last of Us?

With Intergalactic still set to release next year, or, at the very least, four or five years after that, it's still early in the production process, but there is a feeling it will be a game based on an existing IP. Oh, these studios have a secret game in production. They really do. A lot of people are known to want to think that.

It should be mentioned that they never have a second hidden game that is further along in production.

Are we at the level where we can begin to plan? Is it possible to start working on the game early? The idea that two games are being developed at the same time and that one would be released soon after the other is problematic. For example, 2027 might see the release of Intergalactic and 2029 the release of Uncharted 5. It would mean the world to some if that were true.

To some opinions, that is not going to happen. So far, only Insomniac has managed to pull it off, and even with them, there seems to be a slight hiatus between games. In 2023, Spider-Man 2 was released. After three years, Wolverine will be released, which, considering the development cadence in 2026, is still an incredible timeline, but there was a period when Spider-Man 2018 would come out, followed by Miles Morales seven months later, Ratchet Rift Apart, and Spider-Man 2 two years later.

As far as game releases go, that's rather quick, but that's Insomniac. For the Naughty Dogs and Santa Monicas out there, that will not be the case. Since when did Naughty Dog release not one, but two quality games so soon after each other? Going back in time to the PS3 era is practically necessary. Referring to the PS3 period, namely the two-year break that occurred after Uncharted 4, not including Lost Legacy.

Like, following the S3 era, it was like three years into Uncharted 4, four into Last of Us Part 2, and now here we are seven years into Intergalactic, which is total mayhem. This, though, people will contend. In the event that this is a real game, like Uncharted 5, you can be certain that it will be completed.

We don't see any reason to cancel Uncharted 5, plus you already have a good chunk of the cast and crew lined up, so it's not going anywhere. People would present that case during the upcoming PlayStation showcase, State of Play, or whatever they choose to call it. This is a crucial event for the company as a whole, as it will need to change the media's perception of PlayStation in relation to game shortages, live service outages, price increases, etc.

Make a show that will make people go, "Oh my god, PlayStation is back." People should. Since they are essentially unopposed, they are free to do as they like. Those things will be alright, but if you want people to have a positive impression of your brand, you should aim to have them say, "Oh my god, PlayStation is back. This is what we want from PlayStation."

Then you can ride that wave of excitement into September with the release of Wolverine and November with Grand Theft Auto 6. Even though it is assumed most of you despise this, some of us would sincerely make the case. Making a little computer-generated teaser trailer, which we despise. Do you recall when Uncharted 4's teaser trailer was unveiled?

Something about the 2013 Game Awards comes to mind.

Perform such an action to let people know that a beloved IP is returning, which will instantly make them think, "Okay, Sony is actually listening. They're bringing back IPs that we care about." Additionally, it reveals that Nathan Drake will play a role in the game, because if Cassie does, you can be assured that people will go crazy over it.

Won't go into it again, but Nathan Drake needs to be in it. It's a good idea to drop a teaser trailer for the game, but it needs to be at least four or five years before it comes out. At the next major event, you're likely to see announcements about the God of War game and, hopefully, some big Wolverine gameplay, but those are kind of expected.

Your nerves would be frazzled if you saw even one teaser trailer like that, especially since it would be promoting an existing intellectual property rather than a brand-new one. Crazy computer-generated trailers for new intellectual properties. The Intergalactic trailer, for example, was terrible. Trailers for new intellectual properties should ideally show us gameplay and build the mood for the game.

If you have an established intellectual property or are just announcing the return of a game franchise, for example, Uncharted 5, you can create a teaser trailer, and people will be thrilled even though the release date is far off. Even though some will probably say something like, "Yeah, we won't get this game until 2031," the next event would be the perfect opportunity to do something similar.

Coming right after all those live service failures, the next event is going to be crucial. You've just experienced a price increase. From an aesthetic perspective, one would argue that PlayStation hasn't been lower for quite some time. Clearly, they will be financially OK. Their rivals are nonexistent.

Sources do believe this event will be quite essential in terms of appealing to your core user group, but they will earn a ton of money otherwise. Still, that's how one would deal with it; here's hoping the game comes out and it's not a letdown, because Uncharted is one of those IPs that PlayStation should rely on. A layoff lasting ten years is just unacceptable.

Titles should be flowing out of it on a regular basis. No matter if it's not a major studio title. Launch spin-offs. Remaster Uncharted: Golden Abyss. You have a lot of options. Try playing a Sam game. There's so much potential, and it's one of those intellectual properties that's sitting idle. Really, no one knows what to tell. The folks at Bend Studio really nailed it with Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Permit them to rehone that game.

If they were given another smaller-scale Uncharted game that wasn't part of the core series, it might be a smashing success.

Tell Sony bend what you want them to do. Yet another game with live service? Exactly right. Last but not least, it should be mentioned that PlayStation Plus Essential titles are being released. Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, Tomb Raider 1,2, and 3 remastered, and Lords of the Fallen are all now playable for PlayStation Plus Essential members.

Take a look at those. Particularly those in charge of the fallen. It's been a long time since one last glazed. Still fetching a hefty coin are Tomb Raider 1–3, Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, and an excellent action Souls-like game.

April is shaping up to be a great month for new releases, and we should be seeing the plus extra lineup soon. Accordingly, we will also keep an eye out for that for you. You'll be satisfied with it. What are your thoughts on the proposal and Uncharted 5? As you did with Uncharted 4 a long time ago, you might release a computer-generated trailer for this game this summer.

"Hey, this game is in development. Hey, we're listening to you guys. Hey, we're bringing back these IPs that you care about." It's more of a message to let you know that developers are listening than to announce a release date.

It's to let you know that PlayStation has changed its priorities in terms of the games they focus on. The PlayStation Plus titles are coming out, and it's simply important that you convey that message. Among the online fraction daydreams are Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider 1–3, and Shadow of War. Gamers will be satisfied with it.
