Ranking up and prestiging quickly in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is all about efficient strategies for using every XP-accruing resource available. With the return of Prestige mode as a key progression mechanic, player level has become the ultimate grind.
And while the other games were all about the grind of leveling up weapons and trying to hit Mastery Camo, this year it's all about hitting your player level - and so you'll want to know how to get the most XP as quickly as possible. Here's everything you need to know, from the best XP per minute to the most rewarding modes and - of course - the best ways to rank up as fast as possible.
XPM
To level up quickly, Black Ops 6, you need to maximize your XP per minute, or XPM. In other words, XPM is how fast you receive experience points. This means even slight changes in how you play the game can make a difference in leveling up significantly.
In Black Ops 6, you can earn XP by completing challenges, medals, and camo unlocks, all of which you can do while getting kills and objectives. It's all about maximizing each of these XP sources while keeping XPM as high as possible.
Get Weapon Camos
One of the easiest ways to passively earn XP while ranking up is through weapon camos. Each camo unlock typically requires a specific action, like getting a certain number of headshots or rapid kills with a weapon.
While it doesn’t give you massive XP gains, each unlock helps add a bit of experience to your tally. You can do these challenges regularly while playing can help you rack up XP without dedicating specific time to them. As you progress, the requirements become tougher, but the extra XP is always worth it, especially if you’re aiming for that Mastery camo.
Do Barracks Challenges
Barracks challenges are a good way to earn XP, and they come in two types: Calling Card Challenges and Mastery Badges. Once you've completed a challenge, you can also get a pretty decent amount of XP-sometimes up to 1,000 and even upwards of 10,000 XP!
First off, you can find some very general challenges in the category called Hardened within the Barracks. Then you can start exploring the specific Calling Card categories themselves.
All these put together can really help rack up XP as you take on challenges in a bunch of playstyles and loadouts. Mastery Badges, on the other hand, are a small something extra for utilizing specific scorestreaks, completing gear-related tasks, or leveling up certain classes of weapons.
Going for these badges also give you sort of a path to follow, which is great if you love mixing and matching different gear pieces to try out different scorestreaks.
Try To Get Medals
Medals will really help in multiplayer to level up a lot more quickly. Some of the medals are quite easy to get, such as double kills and headshots. Then there are those, like Merciless and Nuclear, which require 10 and 30 kills without dying, respectively.
Getting them may be really difficult, but rest assured that they do reward you with lots more XP. Each of these medals rewards you with a certain amount of experience in each kill streak or multi-kill.
You can pick up extra XP for grabbing multi-kills, especially if they're quick ones. If you pull off something called a Fury Kill(four quick kills) you will snag 200 XP. And those kill streak medals? They reward between 100 to 500 XP according to your streak.
Best Multiplayer Modes for Earning High XP Quickly
Certain modes just tend to be much stronger for experience farming in Black Ops 6, seeing as they really push action and getting those kills and objectives.
Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed usually pay pretty even amounts of XP per minute. They cap at around 1,000 XP, because of how those modes are designed around getting more objectives and keeping up the action.
Playing on smaller maps helps a whole lot, as it speeds up the action and ultimately gets you more kills and objectives in each match.
Zombies Mode
After a long break, Zombies mode is finally back in a recent Call of Duty entry, and of course, it’s a decent way of grinding XP.
You get your XP by completing challenges, such as those through Calling Card tasks, getting kills with certain weapons, and using specific equipment.
You can get medals here as well, so you better try to be on a roll with those kills to rack up as many medals as possible. It gets a heck of a lot easier as you progress to later rounds.
That's the thing with Zombies mode: it's all about that slower pace, but it's a consistent grind. You can usually rack up around 1,000 XP per minute if you stay focused on surviving and playing smart in those higher rounds.
If you want a far more relaxed yet steady grind, Zombies is a great alternative to multiplayer. I think the matchmaking of is a little iffy at the moment because the game just came out, so it’s perfectly fine to do the Zombies mode until multiplayer gets fixed.
You can also keep a consistent XP rate in those super-long sessions because there are no in-game breaks, like lobbies or waiting periods.
