Summon Torrent.
Ride toward the large white mound near Elder Dragon Greyoll.
Climb the mound using Torrent.

Interact with the corpse to collect the Reed Great Katana.

You don't need to fight Greyoll or any boss to obtain the weapon. You can ride through the area and climb the mound.
