Here's a guide on how to complete the collection journal in Forza Horizon 6.

The Collection Journal is one of the main progression systems in Forza Horizon 6. It tracks your discoveries across Japan, including cars, photographs, Mascots, races, Horizon Stories, and other activities. Completing Journal objectives also rewards you with cars, Credits, Wheelspins, Player Houses, Barn Find Rumors, and other items.

Unlike the Horizon Festival's Wristband progression, the Collection Journal is tied to Discover Japan, allowing you to make progress by exploring the open world and completing different activities at your own pace.

How the Collection Journal Works

The Collection Journal becomes available early in your journey through Japan. After receiving the Journal, you can access it through the pause menu and track your progress across the different activities available throughout the map.

Collection Journal Activities

Your Journal tracks progress from activities such as:

  • Collecting cars
  • Discovering locations
  • Taking photographs
  • Finding Mascots
  • Completing Horizon Stories
  • Completing Street Races
  • Completing Touge Battles
  • Participating in Car Meets
  • Completing Time Attack Circuits
  • Completing other Discover Japan activities

Each activity contributes toward your overall Discover Japan progression and helps you earn Stamps.

How to Earn Stamps

Stamps are the main progression system connected to the Collection Journal. There are seven Stamp tiers, beginning with Yellow and ending with Gold. Each new tier represents further progress through Discover Japan.

All Collection Journal Stamp Tiers

The seven Stamp tiers are:

  • Yellow Stamp
  • Green Stamp
  • Blue Stamp
  • Pink Stamp
  • Orange Stamp
  • Purple Stamp
  • Gold Stamp

The Gold Stamp is the final tier and unlocks the Master Explorer status.

To earn Stamps, continue completing activities recorded in your Collection Journal. You do not need to follow one specific route, allowing you to focus on the activities you enjoy most.

Best Ways to Complete the Collection Journal

The fastest way to complete the Collection Journal is to combine different Discover Japan activities rather than repeatedly focusing on a single activity.

Complete Discover Japan Activities

Prioritize activities that contribute directly to your Journal progression, including:

  • Street Races
  • Touge Battles
  • Car Meets
  • Time Attack Circuits
  • Horizon Stories
  • Photography
  • Food Delivery activities
  • Mascot collection
  • Car collection
  • Exploration

Street Races and Touge Battles are particularly useful if you enjoy racing, while photography and exploration provide an alternative way to progress without constantly competing in events.

Explore the Map

Exploring Japan is an important part of completing the Collection Journal. As you travel around the map, you'll discover new locations, activities, collectibles, and clues that are added to your Journal.

Keep checking the map for undiscovered icons and activities. Completing them as you encounter them prevents you from having to return to the same areas later.

How to Complete the Car Collection

The Car Collection is another major part of the Collection Journal. You can increase your collection by purchasing cars, earning them through events and rewards, finding special vehicles, and unlocking cars through Journal progression.

Collect More Cars

You can add vehicles to your collection through:

  • Autoshow purchases
  • Festival Playlist rewards
  • Wheelspins
  • Treasure Cars
  • Barn Finds
  • Collection Journal rewards
  • Car Mastery rewards
  • Other special unlocks

Some Collection Journal milestones award cars directly, making car collecting an important part of progressing through the Journal. There are also vehicles that are specifically tied to Collection Journal progression.

When you have enough Credits, regularly checking the Car Collection is an easy way to identify missing vehicles and work toward the next reward tier.

Collection Journal Rewards

Completing Journal objectives doesn't only increase your Stamp progress. The Collection Journal also provides a variety of rewards as you complete different activities and reach higher progression levels.

Types of Rewards

Collection Journal rewards can include:

  • Cars
  • Credits
  • Wheelspins
  • Cosmetic items
  • Player Houses
  • Barn Find Rumors
  • The Estate

Some Journal rewards are unique cars that cannot simply be purchased from the Autoshow. For example, Collection Journal progression includes vehicles such as the Shelby Cobra 427 S/C, Toyota Sports 800, Alfa Romeo TZ2, and Lexus LFA Forza Edition.

Collecting Stamps also unlocks additional Player Houses and eventually gives you access to The Estate, where you can build and decorate in the open world.

How to Get the Gold Stamp

The Gold Stamp is the final Collection Journal milestone and is required to become a Master Explorer.

Reach Master Explorer

To reach the Gold Stamp, continue completing activities across Discover Japan until you have filled every previous Stamp tier. The game does not require you to complete every individual activity on the map before you can progress through the Stamp system.

A good approach is to rotate between different activities:

  • Complete nearby Street Races.
  • Take part in Touge Battles.
  • Complete Time Attack Circuits.
  • Photograph undiscovered locations.
  • Find and collect Mascots.
  • Complete Horizon Stories and other Discover Japan activities.
  • Continue collecting cars.
  • Check the Collection Journal regularly to see which categories still need progress.

Once you earn the Gold Stamp, you become a Master Explorer, marking the completion of the seven-tier Discover Japan Stamp progression.

Final Thought

Completing the Collection Journal in Forza Horizon 6 is mainly about exploring Japan and consistently completing the activities tracked by Discover Japan. You don't need to grind a single activity repeatedly. Instead, explore new areas, collect cars, complete races, photograph locations, find Mascots, and work through the different Journal categories.

Keep checking your Collection Journal as you play so you can identify unfinished activities and work toward the next Stamp. Reaching the Gold Stamp and Master Explorer status is the ultimate goal, while the cars, Credits, Wheelspins, Houses, and other rewards make the journey worthwhile.
