Forza Horizon 6 Guide | How to Find XP Boards

XP Boards, also known as Bonus Boards, are some of the easiest collectibles to overlook in Forza Horizon 6. They are scattered throughout Japan and reward you with XP when you smash them. Some are placed directly beside roads, while others require you to find a ramp, climb a hill, or approach a structure from a specific direction. 

There are 200 XP Boards across the map, and they come in three reward tiers: green boards worth 1,000 XP, blue boards worth 3,000 XP, and yellow boards worth 5,000 XP. 

This guide explains how to locate XP Boards efficiently, how to reach the difficult ones, and how to keep track of the boards you've already collected. 

How to Find XP Boards 

XP Boards are scattered throughout the open world, so the easiest way to find them is to use the map rather than searching for them randomly.

Look for the XP Board Icon 

XP Boards appear on the world map as collectible markers once their locations are revealed. If you are searching for several boards in an area, use the map filters to remove unnecessary icons and make the collectibles easier to see. 

The boards can appear beside roads, behind buildings, around industrial areas, in fields, and in more difficult terrain. Driving normally between races will also reveal boards as you explore the map. 

Search One Region at a Time 

Instead of driving from one side of Japan to the other for every board, clear a region before moving to the next one. 

This is especially useful because boards are often grouped fairly close together. A regional sweep lets you plan a continuous route and reduces time spent retracing your steps. 

For a full collection run, you can work through the regions systematically and leave the most difficult boards for the end of each area. 

How to Smash an XP Board 

Finding an XP Board is only half the job. You need to physically drive into the board to destroy it. 

Drive Into the Board 

Once you locate an XP Board, line up your car and drive directly through it. You do not need to press a separate button or activate the collectible.

Most boards are easy to reach and can be destroyed simply by driving along the road. 

If the board is positioned beside a road or behind a small obstacle, slow down, line up your approach, and use the surrounding terrain to reach it. 

Use Rewind When Necessary 

Some boards are positioned where a small mistake can send your car away from the target. 

If you miss a jump or approach from the wrong angle, use Rewind and try again rather than driving all the way back to the starting point. 

Rewind is particularly useful for elevated boards where your approach has to be precise. 

How to Find the Hardest XP Boards 

The most difficult XP Boards are generally the ones worth the highest XP. They are often placed on rooftops, elevated platforms, shipping containers, hillsides, or other locations you can't reach directly from the road. 

Look for a Ramp Nearby 

When you see an XP Board sitting somewhere high, don't immediately assume you need a special car. 

Instead, drive around the surrounding area and look for a natural ramp. 

Hills, dirt banks, snowbanks, sand piles, roads, and other raised terrain can provide enough height to reach a board. The key is finding the right launch point and approaching it at the right angle. 

Build Enough Speed 

If a board requires a jump, you need enough speed to reach it. 

Find a long, straight section of road or terrain before the ramp and build speed before making the jump. Avoid turning right before the launch point, as it can make the car unstable and change its trajectory. 

For rooftop boards, it can take several attempts to find the correct combination of speed and angle. 

Check the Surroundings 

Some of the hardest boards aren't difficult because of the jump itself. The real challenge is figuring out where the intended approach begins. 

Circle the location and look for: 

• Hillsides 
• Dirt ramps 
• Snowbanks 
• Sand piles 
• Shipping containers 
• Raised roads 
• Building entrances 
• Slopes near the board 

Several difficult boards use nearby terrain as an improvised ramp. 

How Much XP Do XP Boards Give? 

There are three main XP Board tiers in Forza Horizon 6. 

Green XP Boards 

Green boards are the easiest to collect and are often placed near roads or other accessible areas. 

They reward 1,000 XP when smashed. 

Collect these early because you can grab many without changing your route much. 

Blue XP Boards 

Blue boards reward 3,000 XP. 

They are generally harder to reach than green boards and can be found farther away from major roads, behind structures, or in terrain that requires a small detour. 

Yellow XP Boards 

Yellow boards are the highest-value XP Boards and reward 5,000 XP. 

They are also the boards most likely to require a specific approach. Common locations include rooftops, elevated structures, difficult terrain, and other awkward positions. 

If you're struggling with one, don't keep attacking it from the same direction. Search the surrounding area for another route or a ramp that gives you a better launch angle. 

Across all 200 boards, the XP rewards add up to a substantial amount of experience. 

How to Find All 200 XP Boards 

If you're going for every XP Board, the best method is to divide the map into sections and clear them systematically.

Use a Region-by-Region Route 

There are 200 XP Boards spread across 10 regions, including Legend Island. The main regions contain the majority of the boards, while Legend Island contains nine. 

A useful approach is: 

• Open the map. 
• Turn on the collectible markers. 
• Pick one region. 
• Locate every visible XP Board in that region. 
• Drive a route that connects the boards. 
• Smash each board. 
• Check your progress before moving to another region. 

This prevents you from repeatedly crossing the entire map for a single missing board. 

Keep Track of Missing Boards 

Your Collection Journal tracks your collectible progress, allowing you to see how much of the Bonus Board collection you have completed. 

If you've collected most of the boards but are missing a few, concentrate on regions where your map still shows unexplored collectible locations. 

The final boards often require more careful searching because they're placed away from normal driving routes. 

Save Difficult Boards for Later 

You don't have to destroy every board the first time you see it. 

If a board requires a difficult jump and you're currently driving a car not suited to the terrain, mark its location and come back later. 

A capable off-road or rally-oriented car can make mountainous and rough-terrain roads more accessible.

XP Boards are one of the simplest ways to earn extra XP while exploring Forza Horizon 6, but collecting all 200 becomes much easier when you approach them systematically.
