This guide shows how to get to the Sister of the Void ending in Hollow Knight: Silksong. It continues from the Snared Silk ending and has you go into the void to save Lace and free the kingdom from both Silk and void corruption.

The Aftermath of Sacrifice

Things will get trickier after Lace's sacrifice in the void portal, where she saved you by cutting her mother's arm and letting herself and the Grandmother of Silk be pulled into the abyss.

Lace's action seemed like a way for her to fight against her fake life and be angry that her mother was obsessed with you, but the Silk Mother's true feelings are more complicated.

Lace thought her mother never really loved her, but the Grandmother of Silk really cared about and loved her daughter.

When they get to the bottom of the void lake in the abyss, her acts show that she loves them like a mother. The Silk Mother doesn't just let herself be destroyed; instead, she uses her last few powers and Silk to make a giant cage around herself and Lace to protect them.

The Silk Mother's Desperate Protection

The Cocoon is a wall meant to slow the void's decay and prevent it from consuming them both immediately. As the void keeps eating away at each protective layer, the Silk Mother uses what little power she has left to make new layers of Silk.

She gladly gives up a lot of her life to protect Lace from the void's evil influence, even though it means her death. As she fought desperately against the void, her Silk Threads spread from where she was in the Cocoon to the whole kingdom above.

To reach the top, the Silk must pass through the Void Lake, which transforms all these Threads into something else. People in the kingdom are now under a double curse: they are controlled by Silk Threads and tainted by void influence.

As you play, the screams you hear are coming from the Silk Mother, who is constantly fighting against the void's progress.

To keep Lace from becoming evil, if this situation keeps going on for too long, the void and the Silk Mother's desperate efforts will destroy the whole kingdom and everyone who lives there.

The Descent Challenge

Get ready to fall into the depths because you know you need to get Lace back to end her mother's pain and the kingdom's double corruption. You quickly learn, though, that there is a big problem that sets you apart from The Knight of Hallownest.

You don't have any void energy in you like The Knight did. The Knight was made of void and could safely move through void environments.

If you tried to swim through the void lake, you would immediately become corrupt and die because you have no natural defenses against the void's eating power. This fundamental difference in your composition suggests that you struggle to reach Lace and solve the problem below.

Acquiring the Everbloom

To beat this task, you need to get the Everbloom, a pale flower that is used by pale beings to block void energy and keep you safe from its harmful effects. You will need to find this flower in another way, since it doesn't grow naturally in Pharloom.

You need to remember an obvious time in your life when you saw the White Lady holding an Everbloom. You can get the protective flower you need for your void lake journey by exploring your memories.

For non-void beings, the Everbloom is one of the few substances that can protect them from void energy, though its security isn't perfect.

The Cocoon Descent

Once you have the Everbloom, you can safely cross the void lake and join the Silk Mother's protective Cocoon thanks to its protective powers. The Grandmother of Silk is very weak inside this Silk shield because she has spent most of her strength keeping the protective layers around them in place.

You will also find Lace, who has become perverted by void energy that got through the Cocoon's defenses, despite her mother's constant work and sacrifice.

She screams desperately when you next see her, trying to fight the void's effect on her fake body. This corruption shows up in her screaming.

The Cleansing Battle

You can still save Lace from her void corruption, but you will have to fight to get rid of the dark energy that is in her. As the battle goes on, the Silk Mother keeps losing what little power she has left, which lets more void energy get through her defenses and into the Cocoon.

By fighting hard, you can clean Lace of all void corruption and free her from the dark energy's control. After saving her, you go up to the dying Silk Mother and ask her to give you all of her leftover Silk power so that you and Lace can get out of the Cocoon before it falls apart.

The Final Escape

The Silk Mother agrees to your wish and gives you all of her last bit of Silk as an earlier act of love and sacrifice. With this transferred Silk power, you dash up through the void lake with Lace on your back as you try to reach the top.

After sharing her power, the Silk Mother is gone forever. She used all of her last bit of strength to save you and her daughter.

During your ascent, however, the Everbloom flower is killed because it can't stand being exposed to such strong void energy for long. Now that you are no longer protected, the void starts chasing you and Lace right away, trying to pull you back down into its depths.

The Vessels' Intervention

The Knight and all the other ships from Hallownest come to save you at this significant time. These siblings, born from the void, go back and forth between the two void realms to save their Sister and Lace. They can bring you both to the top and safety.

The Knight and the ships' actions show a link between what happened in the first Hollow Knight and what happened in Silksong. Because they can move through void areas and not be corrupted by them, they are the perfect beings to help you when the Everbloom's protection fails.

The Kingdom's True Freedom

As a result of this ending, Pharloom is finally free from both Silk control and void rot. By killing the Silk Mother, you cut off the source of the Silk Threads, and by saving Lace, you ended the desperate fight that was spreading void corruption across the kingdom.

Lace's laughter at the end of this ending shows that she can't believe what just happened. Her reply is a normal human response to surviving something so amazing and dangerous, like how people laugh when they are under a lot of stress or are amazed by things that seem too good to be true.

The most complete answer to the kingdom's problems is this ending, but it means giving up the Silk Mother and putting yourself and Lace in great danger.

Your void-born brothers step in to make sure the rescue works, and the kingdom can finally start to recover from its long curse.
