Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess | The Best Upgrades to Get

In a game with so many upgrades, here are the ones that matter the most

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess offers very few upgrades, even when you include Soh himself. Yet, you’ll very quickly find that you don’t have enough Musubi for all the upgrades. With access to so many classes, you will probably be split between the many upgrades offered.

Of course, some upgrades are better than others, and some are game-changing. You should also note that these upgrades are often not exactly essential but are just the best to get in general. Sometimes, you’ll be able to get by without getting these upgrades, and at many points, you’ll find other options that serve your specific playstyle better.

Classes

Now, some classes benefit a lot from upgrades. This includes the Archer, Woodcutter, and Sumo Wrestler. Other classes, like the thief or ascetic, can get along without any upgrades.

Amongst the ones that could really use upgrades are the Archer and Woodcutter. All-rounders that do well in practically all situations are incredibly reliable, and once upgraded, they become very strong as well. And since they are so reliable, the Musubi spent on them doesn't go to waste.

Some upgrades are more useful because they unlock certain abilities. One of these is the Locksmith ability on the Thief. This is invaluable as you gain lots of resources, albeit in small amounts, to gain more crystals and rations, and even some Musubi.

Other upgrades

Another useful upgrade is the Worship ability via the Chozusha Basin. You will be able to unlock this after you unlock Soh’s skill tree. The Chozusha Basin is a small water fountain found at every stage. Soh can use the basin once every day to give him a bout of invincibility as well as other boosts, making him incredibly strong. This makes him unstoppable for the short time it affects him.

Tsuba Guards

Tsuba Guards are special sword guards that give you access to special abilities. You can only equip one at the beginning, but after defeating Batsu, you’ll be able to unlock more slots.

They do incredible amounts of damage and more. You’ll eventually get more Tsuba Guards, so you should unlock more slots as soon as you are able to. The second slot costs 20 Musubi, while the third costs 50 Musubi.

Each Tsuba Guard slot has its counter and cooldown, and while the cooldown won’t progress unless you have it active, having two is almost a game changer; you’ll no longer have to hold onto them preciously.

Mazo Talisman

The Mazo Talismans are also very useful; they provide various bonuses. They are also incredibly varied, with around 70 different Mazo Talismans in the game. They also turn decent classes into powerhouses and provide for many, many different strategies.

You can get a total of 5 Mazo Talisman Slots, with the first upgrade costing 10 Musubi, the second 20 Musubi, and the third 50 Musubi. While the first and second upgrades are relatively inexpensive, the third costs a lot, so it's probably best to hold off until you get later into the game.
